Rodney was rumored to be quite the party animal, even in his 70s, so I’m sure he had a good idea of how fond people were of him.
From Back to School:
Diane : I’d love to go with you, but I’ve got a class right now.
Thornton Melon : Well, why don’t you come and see me some time when you have no class.
Also from Back to School (which Sinbad is rumored to be remaking)
Diane: What does that poem mean?
Thorton Melon: I don’t take shit from nobody.
Also
Thorton: Vonnegut, you don’t know anything about Vonnegut! I’m stopping payment on the check!
My husband and I had to visit his folks this week. We drove all day Tuesday. Got to the folks early evening, just in time for the Debate. Immediately after the Debate, we drove to a hotel, dropped our bags and went to sleep. This morning, before opening his eyes, my husband said “Rodney Dangerfield died last night.”
He wasn’t even fully awake, and I was barely awake, no TV, last night or this morning. How the Hll did he know that!?*
I didn’t believe it until just now.
BTW, Rodney was my second (not current) husband’s uncle.
Both The Daily Show and The Late Show With David Letterman did touching tributes to Rodney tonight.
picunurse, one night I was driving home from a friend’s place and I suddenly thought, “Jim’s dead.” Jim was a friend who was in the hospital and wasn’t expected to live that long. Sure enough, I found out later, he had passed away that evening.
No, but one can meet that fact with dignity, or not. Too many choose the latter.
Just posting to pay Rodney my last respects. ;j
“Nice boy wonderful boy. Now I know why tigers eat their young.”
Roger Ebert’s site has reposted an interview he did with Rodney on the set of “Easy Money” as a tribute.
Really sums up the man nicely.
(Noticed that a nephew and his wife were present for part of the interview. Comments picunurse?)
I’m not sure if that was my ex, and don’t really care. He was more than a little crazy.(Bi-polar) I actually think RD was a great uncle since ex’s mom’s sister called him uncle too. I never met him.
I just memtioned it as a “6 degrees” note.
The editorial cartoon in this morning’s Daily Breeze showed a scene at the pearly gates; Janet Leigh stands up near Peter, who directs Rodney Dangerfield to carry her bags to the “VIP Cloud.” Rodney says he still don’t get no respect.
Next he’ll have to face Anthony Perkins. I hope there are no shower stalls up there…

Damn! The browser posted my first thread before I could correct the spelling of the Breeze’s URL…
I guess I don’t get no respect either.
