“During one short monologue toward the end, Waters claimed “CNN made me look like a (expletive),” following it by saying he would always stand first for “human rights.” Earlier, he said, “If you don’t know what’s wrong with me, read the papers,” in a remark that likely referred to the recent controversy, set off by an interview on CNN that questioned his inclusion of Biden in the “War Criminals” video.”
…the biggest cheers of the evening came during Waters’ litany of gripes declared in huge letters onscreen, especially “(Expletive) The Supreme Court” and “(Expletive) The Patriarchy.”"
If Waters is going to list “Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Joe Biden” as “war criminals”, and not include W*, then he really is well and truly wack.
If your position is that war is, de facto, criminal then it’s likely that nearly every president is a war criminal.
I don’t agree with the idea but it is arguably fair.
When the police think that John robbed the bank, they don’t fight their way to John by blowing their way through his friends, coworkers, children, and wife before trying to snag John. They just sneak in, grab him, and haul him to court.
I call it the Diego Maradonna Syndrome … you can be a genius in one discipline, but that does not make you one in others …
Maradonna showed that again-and-again (failing basically in anything except PLAYING football).
Nikki Lauda was the same … in F1 possible one of the smartest cookies … anywhere else not so much ( going from serial airline-bankruptcies to mean ol’ a-hole in his later years)
Same is true for RW here …
Interesting development, nevertheless … going from from young, highly talented, world-open persona to basically being your run-of-the-mill grumpy old “get off my lawn” conservative grandfather
I’ve seen him live twice. I was at the Berlin Wall concert. An amazing moment. There were no extra messages other than what was already in The Wall. The other time was at the 12-12-12 concert for Hurricane Sandy relief. He turned one of his songs into a screed about some injustice that happened to a guy in England by the police. I’m sure no one at the concert had any idea what it was about nor should they since they didn’t live in the UK. It feels to me his rants are a form of masturbation rather than wanting to educate people.
Waters posted an open letter to First Lady Olena Zelenska the other day seeking her support in persuading her husband to end the war. She responded on Twitter today.
Any truth to the rumor that an over-the-hill dumbass supergroup is in the works?
Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison and Ted Nugent - together at last for the Drained Brains concert tour. Each show will feature five minutes of what passes for music, along with two hours of loopy political invective.
If you’ll refer back to the OP, you’ll see that Waters apparently thinks that the US and Britain had nothing whatsoever to do with winning the war and Stalin could have done it all on his own without them.
His dislike for Margaret Thatcher has clearly metastasized into full-blown brain worms.
Curious - I looked into what his father looked like, and came up only with this article, and couldn’t help but notice when I first saw his mom, I thought that was him, as a gangly, awkward, young teenager (with very young sibs).
Definitely didn’t get his looks from the old man, who looks great in this photo, like some snivelling ‘bounder’, or something.
This is making it awfully hard to unload my two VIP tickets for his last US show (Dallas). I agree though. Among other reasons that’s why I’m not going.
Yes, this makes me officially no longer like Roger Waters, and it is sad. In addition, it throws some shade onto the genuineness of his Floydian anti-war songs. It seems less of a general statement about the awfulness and uncaringness of all war and more of a statement about the aims of only some of the generalissimos. Generalissimos he likes are free to kill fathers, of course.
