This is a brag post because I just bought 4 tickets in the 19th row to see Roger Waters and co. perform “The Wall”.
201 dollars a ticket plus the Ticketmaster “Convenience Charge” seemed a little high ( a little high? I have seen The Who, Led Zepplin, CSN&Y, Black Sabbath, the Stones, ZZTop, Paul McArtney and many more without ever breaking a 50 dollar bill.)but I digress.
The show isn’t till December 11th but I cannot tell you how jacked up I am to see this show.
I mean Roger Freaking Waters doing “The Wall”
Last night we saw James Taylor and Carole King, and they were awesome.
Fantastic!!! It was the opening of their tour. See 'em if you can.
Ok. I’m done now
Still dancing around the room with the tickets in my hands.
I don’t have to wait as long (Oct 22), but I am excited to correct a musical oversight. I never took the opportunity to see Pink Floyd and this is as close as its ever going to get. Parking will be a hassle and it will almost certainly be raining that night. Oh well. This chance might not come again.
Even the low 3-digits for nosebleeds is a questionable call. My wife and I would like to go, but we’ll see (it’s also a weeknight in San Jose, so we’ll have to drive 2+ hours after work).
I bought a couple of tickets for the Vegas show. The $124 ones, not the $250 ones. I don’t have to be that close, in fact I’d prefer not to be on the floor.
I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to make it or not, but hopefully I won’t have any trouble getting rid of them if I can’t go.
(aside: caught the 'Dead exhibit at the NY Historical Society. One of the best parts of the small collection? They had the equipment, tapes and a couple scripts from the Hotline recording. They even had a listening setup where you could hear an old recording. Ah, nostalgia!)
Actually, GDTS has always been corrupt, especially for California shows. Those “in the know” knew a special code to put on the outside of the envelope to get the best seats. I knew people who knew the codes but not well enough to get them myself.
Really, get a copy of “The Wall - Live in Berlin” and watch it on a bitching big screen hooked up to a monster stereo and enjoy the best seat in the house along with great guest artist i(like Bryan Adams and the Scorpians) in there heyday; not old Roger without any of the original band.
I used to love going to concerts, but especially now-adays I can count on pretty much any band I want to see releasing some kind of Live DVD that, compared to triple digit tickets (never minding parking , fees, etc etc etc ad nauseum) gets me close enough.
Oh, and I can pause to go to the Bathroom and not miss a song.
Yeah, I love the Wall, have since it came out - but that was a looong time ago.
For me, going to see it as a live show now would be just unbearable. When I see “live” acts, I prefer them to have some actual “life” left in them - this seems more like a show from beyond the grave.
Good God. I’m sure I got change back from a ten the one time I saw Waters–with the rest of Pink Floyd, playing all of Dark Side of the Moon, preceded by an hour’s worth of unreleased material that would later surface on Wish You Were Here and Animals. I’m with Si Amigo. I’ll settle back with a glass of two-buck Chuck, fire up the Live in Berlin DVD, and save myself the 200+ smackers.
