There are a lot of different views here. I feel that is a positive thing for enhanced discussion. I think it may be good for all those that like to participate go ahead and say what they “are” religiously and politically.
I am a Christian, mostly. I have never believed, though, that heaven is populated only by folks from my church.
Generally, I’m a liberal. However, my defense of the Bill of Rights includes the 2nd amendment. On abortion, I’m pro-choice. I believe in regulated capitalism. I believe I’ll stop before I get carried away.
I refuse to tell anybody; I’m fairly sure people can figure it out from my posts, and I’d rather people not say “Of course you think that; you’re a <x>.” Who I am has nothing to do with whether my ideas are valid or not. And as for my political beliefs, labels aren’t terribly meaningful in my experience.
Religion: Lapsed catholic - still believe and try to live the good life - but believe god has better things to do than watch to see if i go to church every sunday.
Religiously: Raised Catholic; [Frank Zappa] Catholic girls, with a tongue like a cow, she can make you go wow[/Frank Zappa]. I believe in an afterlife, and a nice human-esk presence off in plane #2, but beyond that I’m not quite ready to commit.
Politically: If I had to pick liberal or conservative, I’m liberal in regards to gun control, and gay rights. I’m middle of the road on abortion. At the moment I’m not out and out conservative on much of anything.
Religiously: Raised Catholic; converted to Baha’i 4 years ago.
Politically: Mostly conservative, with liberal leanings in areas of gay rights and abortion.
Religiously: Agnostic/Athiest, but the eastern religions do appeal to me, but I haven’t read much about them.
Politically: Rather on the left side of democrat
