Rolling Duffles

I have a duffleesque bag (semi-stiff bottom) that I like, but carrying it can be a pain, so am looking for a rolling equivalent. I want something 30-32", preferably with a U shaped zipper attached on the bottom (wheel end) rather than the side.
One main compatrmet and at least one other compartment, prefrebly 3 (one on top (handle side), one on each side.

Oh, and preferably yellow (so it is easy to spot)

The Samsonite 32" wheeled duffle is close to what I want, but no longer available in yellow (I suppose I could settle for red)

any ideas. I’ve combed ebags.com, luggage.com et al and haven’t found what I’m looking for.

thanks,

Brian

No links, sorry, but we bought something that matches your description a few years ago at a Kohl’s. Have you checked out some local brick-and-mortar stores?

Ours is quite large, can hold a lot of stuff. It doesn’t have a pull-out handle like more traditional suitcases do, instead you grab it by the handle at the end opposite the wheels and drag it that way .

Have you checked LL Bean? My internet isn’t cooperating, but they have a ton of duffels, some rolling.

I went ahead and ordered the red Samsonite.
(Yes, I did look at LL Bean and Land’s End)

Have you really thought the rolling duffel through? I used to have one and it was pretty horrible as luggage goes. You still have to bear nearly the full weight, and it is incredibly non-maneuverable beecause of the length. I’ve had several different styles of covertable backbacks though (convert from rolly luggage to backpack) which all worked out fine.

Well, I guess its too late now.

I bought a rolling duffle bag, and was horribly designed, although I didn’t realize that until my first trip using it. Here are some things to keep in mind:

There should be a carrying handle on the same side as the handle to pull it when rolling it. That way, when you’re someplace where you have to roll it, then go down stairs, then roll it some more (like some metro stations), you don’t have to stop and turn the thing on it’s side to get handles you can carry it with.

Also, be careful of the wheels. On mine, because of the shape of the suitcase, and the way the wheels are, it flips over all the time. It flips on any mildly uneven ground, if you go faster than a slow walk, etc.

Due to a SNAFU with the company I ordered my duffle from, I got one from Kohl’s on sale (are things ever not on sale at Kohl’s?). Although the U zipper opened at the side rather than the top, it met my other requirements.

Similar to this, but no shoulder starp or expanding top:

Using it was MUCH nicer that the non rolling duffle. I had ~ 30 pounds of crap in it and rolling it was quite easy.

I wish there was better spot to attach a luggage tag, but other thatn that I am satisfied with my purchase.

Might I recommend instead a sapient pearwood chest?

Much handier that its wheeled counterparts and you don’t have to worry about luggage thieves or baggage handlers pilfering your belongings.

Ya, but the shipping from Anhk-Morpork is exhorbitant

I got my olive rolling duffel from Kohl’s as well. It’s working out fine.
