My Ronco salad spinner still spins salad after 40something years!
(Not that there’s really that much that could go wrong with it!)

In defense of TV knives, I made an impulse by of a set of of never need sharpening TV knives that were demonstrated and sold at my local supermarket, with a Ronco style demonstration. Two large knives plus a paring knife for $20.00 The paring knife was pretty cheap, the kind you could get for $3.00 at the super market, but the two main knives were quite nice. I gave one to my parents and kept one for myself. 15 years later its still my go to knife for slicing, or slicing bread as it has a very heavily serrated edge that nicely pierces the skin of a green pepper or tomato, which is probably why they use the tomato as a demonstration. It doesn’t work for all purposes, in particular I use a $40 butcher knife for meat, since the TV knife would get stuck and shred it all to hell. It’s also not particularly strong so I wouldn’t use it to cut through joints, but for many purposes it does better than more expensive knives. I haven’t regretted getting it one bit.
I’ll just buy the quality expensive knives as soon as that Nigerian finance minister gets back to me.
I bought a set of knives at the Dollar Store. The entire set came to $6.00. They’re cheap and probably won’t last but the handles are really high style and look great in the knife block on the kitchen counter.
I thought I had bought a set of Ronco knives once. I was wrong.
