ROTK soundtrack (SPOILER-iffic, probably)

The CD isn’t due out for another couple of weeks, but Soundtrack.net’s, got samples from each track up, and TheOneRing.net’s mirroring them if you can’t get ST.net to load (which I couldn’t).

The light opening is surprising - Merry and Pippin fooling around at Orthanc, maybe? Although I’ve heard that was going to be on TTT:EE DVD.

Minas Tirth theme - whee! I like it. Very grand.

I thought it was a bit of a bummer that the sample for The Steward of Gondor didn’t include Billy Boyd’s singing. That should be interesting.

The Fields of the Pelennor - so, from the music, I’m guessing this will be a big scene, then? Like it mentions in the ST.net article, it’s cool that this cue has the same ‘feel’ as the music for the prologue battle in FOTR.

The End of All Things - Ooh, spine-chilling, when you think about what’s probably going to be accompanying this on screen.

Geez, a ten-minute cue for The Return of the King. The sample is nice, although I have a feeling that that particular moment of the cue is going to play over a bittersweet moment in the film.

And all I’m going to say about Into the West, based on that sample, is: :dubious:. We’ll see how it works in the context of the film, I guess, since it will probably be playing over the credits.

I was just listening to it before I came over here, Erroneous. That Shelob track was wonderfully spine-chilling; it reminded me a bit of the famous Psycho theme. And I liked the “Fire and Ash” track, as well.

I second your opinion about “Into the West”. I’ll try to reserve my opinion, but I think Enya was doing just fine up until now.

Annie Lennox sings it. Enya only sang the song for the first movie. Gollum’s Song was sung by someone else.
