In a way it did Thanks for the link, BTW. I asked my friend and found out that Linksys had upgraded the firmware recently… about the same time she began having wireless connection problems. So I set out to downgrade the firmware (they have a link on the page to the previous version, but it requires registration), figuring it to be the next to last step before recommending replacing the router.
She was at work when I started working on it, but I had forgotten the router password. No problem, I though, I’ll just hard reset it to factory defaults since I’m removing the firmware anyway. So I did, and nothing changed.
Long story short, I did a hard reset several times, before I finally unplugged the router and pressed that button down for a minute or so. Turned it back on, and presto, suddenly the wireless is working, much to my surprise! So the same firmware is still on there, but everything seems to be fine now.
Thanks everyone for their help and suggestions! I really appreciate it.
I probably should have mentioned in my previous post that I unplugged everything also when doing the long power cycle. Not sure if that would have saved you some time or not.
