Router to router connections

We have a sales office in the back of the building that currently has one cat 5 cabled connection to our linksys router that handles our Internet connection. We want to add Internet connections in that back office and the easiest way to do it would be to put a wireless router on that cat 5 connection and then wirelessly connect to it when needed. Is this going to work? Can I have routers in series like that?

You either want to connect the CAT5 run to a network switch for more wired connections or a wireless access point for wireless connections. Note that for reasons I can’t fathom, you’ll sometimes find wireless access points to actually cost more than wireless routers. Pick up the wireless router and just don’t use the routing/WAN port.

Get thee unto a network engineer. Plugging in the hardware is the easy part. Configuring it so that it works properly and meets your users’ requirements is another issue. It’s heavily dependent on the existing design of your network.

You need one of these . It is a wireless access point to add wireless access to a wired network. I just did this at home last weekend and setup took me maybe five minutes.
No muss, no fuss, and it can be secured as tight as you want it.
