Roxicodone Question

Hello everyone! New member here. Hoping I can find an answer to an issue Ive been having. I was prescribed Roxicodone (15 mg, 2x a day) monthly by a pain specialist 10 months ago. Having a high tolerance to hydrocodone, oxycodone is all I can take. I can go a month taking it as prescribed and it works great, no side effects. Then the next month I take it as prescribed and it makes me sick as a damn dog (nausea, vomiting, headache, etc). The next month or two, I take it with zero problems. It goes back and forth. I use the hospital pharmacy. I do not get the generic brand. Im not doing anything different monthly when taking my meds. Why do they make me so sick one month and not the next? Ive never experienced this before

Welcome to the SDMB, luckycharm.

Medical questions go in our IMHO forum. I will move this there for you.

As the forum name indicates, any responses you receive there are just the opinions of some online folks and shouldn’t be considered as the equivalent of professional medical advice.

Moving thread from General Questions to In My Humble Opinion.

Welcome to the SDMB (you do know that we’re not a particularly drug-fixated board, right? Just, some people see the name and jump to conclusions), luckycharm. While we wait for one of our medical professionals to weigh in, have you discussed this with the doctor who writes your prescriptions?

@kaylasdad99 yes I know lol! I have Googled and researched online for a while now about my issue with no results so I was directed to come here. I was told TSD would be the best, most helpful place. I have spoken with my doctor and he had no answer so he wrote a Rx for Zofran. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t. It’s frustrating going month to month wondering if it’ll be a good month or a bad month.

For those symptoms, I’d try marijuana. Who knows, that might even help with the pain enough that you could possibly reduce your Roxicodone dosage.

There are only 2 pain clinics where I live and both do random blood and urine tests to check levels of your Rx medicine in your system as well as outside drugs. Trust me if I could I would lol

Maybe it’s just a coincidental symptom; not due to the roxicodone, but more due to the disease or condition that you have?

Are you taking it with meals? Consuming lots of water? Have you ruled out any other lifestyle changes that might have caused your prior symptoms?

I agree with Really Not All That Bright, taking it on an empty stomach may be the culprit.
