Any good rpgs for the x box 360. I like the single player mode. Dont want online.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Highly recommended. Very large and detailed world with an open-ended storyline (you are not required to follow a specific path, though there is a “main” quest that you could jump into right away or put off for a while).

It’s Cafe Society for you, Laddie!

Well, there’s [eM] -eNCHANT arM- which is coming out on the 29th. That’s going to be the only, uh, traditional RPG you’re going to see on the X-Box 360 for a lil’ while.
It does have option of online play, but that’s not necessary to complete or fully enjoy the game.
Cant stand shootem ups. Halo and all were derrivative of Castle Frankenstein of many years ago. It p[layed out then.Like the Romance of the 3 kingdoms type though.
Wolfenstein, not Frankenstein.
Oblivion is the only RPG on the 360 right now. It’s first person, but it’s not a “shoot-em up” by any means. Gigantic enviroment, detailed plot, dozens and dozens of side-quests, an incredibly flexible character creation system, and simply gorgeous graphics. It’s really a fantastic roleplaying game in the PC tradition of the genre. I’d say get the PC version instead, if your computer can handle it, but it’s very high end.
The aforementioned Enchanted Arms is coming out next month. It’s more of a console-style RPG, or what I like to call, “Not really an RPG.” Seriously, though, I don’t really have a lot of tolerance for console-style RPGs, so I haven’t been following this one. The screenshots at GameSpot look awful pretty, though.
Phantasy Star Universe is due out in October, but looks to have a significant online component.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is being marketed as an RPG, but really, it’s a throw-back to the old arcade, top-down brawlers, with experience points. Not much of an RPG experience, as such. I haven’t seen anything new in this genre since Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance first introduced it. But it does have a raft of liscenced Marvel comic book characters, so that might be reason enough to get it. It’s why I’ll be buying it, that’s for sure.
The game I’m personally looking forward to is Mass Effect, due out sometime next year, from BioWare, the finest CRPG studio out there right now.
Another decent, although somewhat repetative, RPG for the X-Box 360 is “The Godfather”, based on the movie of the same name. The 360 can also play X-Box games, if I remember correctly, so if you haven’t played them yet, definately check out Bioware’s Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire.
Only some XBox games, unfortunetly, although I know that Jade Empire is one of them. Although for some reason, certain textures in the game don’t render on the 360. It’s not a big deal, but if you’ve also got a regular XBox, it’ll look better on that than on your 360. Here’s the full list of games that are compatible. I see (unsurprisingly) that both Knights of the Old Republic games are on there, too.
Lovely post! So eloquent!
Sigh.
I’ll mention Elder Scrolls IV also.
