What a weird thing to complain about. “How dare you mention your personal life on a message board! This discussion about chewing gum is way too important for that!”

That’s easy: Newbie is an idiot. RockytheflyingShithead. He couldn’t even manage his full username.

Plus, people have been mean to him here. Boo hoo.

No, I’m complaining because he’s using his cancer as a crutch for such a trivial issue. He didn’t even have to bring up his cancer. When someone tells me they have cotton mouth, I usually don’t think 'That’s such a rare and INTERESTING thing. How does someone get a dry mouth?! HOW?!" The next someone uses the cancer card in the social situation no one in this thread defending rsat3acr can complain about it.
That’s my issue. People have died today of cancer and rsat3acr is bringing it up in a thread where people are saying gum chewers are annoying. It’s not like anyone in the thread said we wanted to ban gum or kill gum chewers.

I’ve sorry my username doesn’t have an allusion to overrated movie/book. :frowning:

I’m sorry, I’m slow, I still cannot figure out what the fuck you are upset about. Could you dumb it down for me? Seriously, this is really a strange, strange thing going on here.

And how the fuck do you know he is not dying himself? Can people not have terminal illnesses and dry mouths at the same time? You don’t know shit about his situation or his motivations - what he said was about as controversial as ‘‘I can’t eat sweets because I have diabetes.’’ To assume therefore that the non-sweet eating person suffers no other ill effects is a complete non sequitor.

You are out of your freakin’ mind. No one on this MB is going to agree with you on this. Not one person. If you intend to stick around here, you need to chill. Massively chill.

Would you have such a giant bug up your ass if he had said “I have dry mouth due to some medication I take”? If not, what the fuck is the difference? It was a passing comment, he hardly went on and on about it. I didn’t realize that there was a rule that you may only mention cancer if you are going to talk about death and extreme suffering.

No. Even though that guy is certifiably insane, his posts make more sense than the OP.

I always appreciate it when someone gives me a different perspective on things. I had no idea that having cancer could give one dry mouth and that’s even after my brother died from it. I did not think that what was said was calling attention to his plight, asking for special treatment or trivializing what others may have gone through. So, I think the OP must be projecting, high or new to Internet trolling because this whole complaint is ridiculous and a waste of time. Total misfire.

And the original Dentyne is still the best gum going.

I pit faithfool’s taste in GUM!

Another fucking gum control thread on the Dope?

Do we really need one?

No I brought up cancer as an explaination as to why I have almost no saliva. It was just explaination and nothing more. You will note in my original post(in the gum pit thread) that I mentioned I didn’t care for a lot of the same things that the OP didn’t like about gum. I probably hadn’t chewed gum in 35 years prior to my CX. I ask for no special treatment and have always been grateful to have been cured. I have never used my cancer for any special treatment. I do Relay For Life and donate money to the American Cancer Society and was doing both those things long before I had CX . I wasn’t trying to gain favor by mentioning the cancer it was just matter of fact. Sorry it upset you so much.

You are too kind rsat3acr.

I would have ended with “sorry you’re such a douchnozzle.”

Congratulations… I no longer think of you as an asshole. You are now a fucking duchbag asshole.

I told my son when he was 8 that I couldn’t promise him he wouldn’t die from his diagnosis of lymphoma.

Hey… I just played the big C card… shove it up your ass if it isn’t already to full.

MY condolences on your brother’s death. To clarify, the cancer didn’t give me the dry mouth, the cancer treatment did. I was throat cancer and the radiation going through the parotid glands that damaged them. Your brother may not have had a dry mouth although there are many Rx and OTC drugs that can reduce saliva flow.

Hope RockytheflyingS doesn’t pit you for mentioning your brother or pit me again for elaborating.

My advise to you as someone who has been here for a very long time is to just ignore Rocky the flying fuckwad. Don’t waste anymore keystrokes on his attention seeking. He’s been here a few weeks, and decided to pick on someone who was here for a few months… very brave of him.

Those of us who have been around a while respect those who contribute not those who just think the pit is somewhere to bully someone for some made up reason.

So. You feel that the big C should only be brought up in conversations that are important, like banning gum or killing gum chewers? :dubious:

Thank you. My sweet brother has been gone five years this past August and I miss him every day. But more than you know, I really do appreciate being able to hear about others who have beaten cancer and who go out of their way to help others understand what they go through. Every little bit of information we can all share only makes this less isolating and daunting. I pray you and Spud’s son are in a better place now.
And I can’t help it. I’ll always be loyal to the One True Dentyne.

Feel free to not like me. What does this have to do with the thread? Nothing.

I hope everyone throwing around that they have cancer or their relations have it, understand people (inlcluding children) have died of cancer. It’s not something to bring up to make people think you’re interesting, get a free pass socially, or for pity. I’m sure if I had choose between say getting my tongue and jaw removed than not being able to make saliva, I’d choose not being able to make saliva. P.S. rsatacr, cotton mouth is a common thing. Many pills for many things cause it. So, no one would be mystified over why you had dry mouth. I know you demand pity, attention, and special treatment but dry mouth is not as rare or troubling as you deem it to be. Scientist aren’t working around the clock to find a cure for it. Last I checked, there aren’t any charities for it. I wouldn’t complain about such a trivial thing when other have died and suffer more than I have. I’m sorry, a thread about gum isn’t a place to bring up your cancer. Unless you got cancer from eating bubble gum or living/working near/in a bubble gum factory. We’re all adults. We know when when it’s the time for something and when it’s not. If you want to share your experiences, why not make your own thread about it instead of talking about it in other people’s topics? I have nothing else to say on this.
