Look at it this way - now that the Joe Paterno thread is mostly dead, we now have a new champion of truth, justice and the American way to inspire us to, um, not bring up cancer in chewing gum threads. I’m still unconvinced and request the OP provide either a thought or practical experiment to clarify his points.

We’re all adults. We know when when it’s the time for something and when it’s not. If you want to share your experiences, why not make your own thread about it instead of talking about it in other people’s topics?

But ta ever so for coming into our playground and telling us what the posting conventions should be. I’m not generally one to hold a join date against someone, or take it into account when forming an opinion of a post, but this is one of those times when you just don’t get it *because *you’re new. Threads here include a lot of personal anecdotes, and we like it that way. The OP doesn’t get to dictate the content of other people’s posts in his/her thread, certainly other posters who didn’t even start the thread have even less say in what’s posted to it. If you don’t like a contributory posting populace who sometimes change the topic of a thread far more significantly than that one did, I hope you leave and find a board more to your liking; we’ll all be happier that way.

I have nothing else to say on this.

I hope everyone throwing around that they have cancer or their relations have it, understand people (inlcluding children) have died of cancer. It’s not something to bring up to make people think you’re interesting, get a free pass socially, or for pity. I’m sure if I had choose between say getting my tongue and jaw removed than not being able to make saliva, I’d choose not being able to make saliva. P.S. rsatacr, cotton mouth is a common thing. Many pills for many things cause it. So, no one would be mystified over why you had dry mouth. I know you demand pity, attention, and special treatment but dry mouth is not as rare or troubling as you deem it to be. Scientist aren’t working around the clock to find a cure for it. I’m surprised no one has mentioned my least favorite part of gum. Adults actively seek gum like it’s some rare substance. “Do you have ANY gum?!”. Why would I? Go to the store and buy some. I don’t know what’s worse when people ask random strangers for gum or when someone opens a stick of gum and a swarm of people run over to get a piece. I don’t think anyone in America is ever more ten minutes away from a place that sells gum for a dollar or less. Stop acting like it’s hard to come by or expensive.
