As with most general questions or great debates, if the OP doesn’t express their own facts and opinions when they are requesting everyone else to do so, then it is suspicious. The OP hasn’t expressed anything at all regarding their own question.
It’s a little quick to judge the intentions behind that thread, there is something a little creepy about it. Why no clarification on the subject? Why no expression of the OP’s opinion?

Actually, that thread pinged my “Homework Assignment” meter a lot more than my “Chester The Molester” alarm. ETA: reason being, previous confessed paedophiles didn’t just ask for a laundry list of arguments, there was more argument for their own position. Of course, they may not have been typical examples of the type.
I would guess pedos are like any other group of people, in that only a minority have what you might call an intellectual interest in their own predilection or in anything else.

Well, he was asking why the current standard exists, not debating its validity, so I can see why he would put it in GQ. I would agree with those who thought it sounded more like “help me with my homework” than “Pedophilia is awesome”.
I don’t have anything to do with pedophilia in my real life. I’m writing about the subject and decided that I should ask the explicit question in case I was missing any points of view. I generally don’t post on message boards at all, and selected this one to ask it in because I expected everyone to be more level-headed than at a lot of other message boards.
I think that there are going to be some people feeling just a tad bit “sheepish”, later on today!:eek:

he did say he could already think of several reasons, but wanted to see what others there were. there was nothing particularly creepy about it, but people do pounce on the subject far more quickly than any other. it’s like when a load of people smashed up the house of a paediatrician. i guess when asked what they were, people let them get as far as the first syllable before throwing the first stone…
