Rude in polite society...ok on SDMB? So, how much do you make?

I make $30/hour. In the past year, that worked out to about $24,000 (I’ve still got one year left to go in HS, so I work in my spare time).

I’m also in the process of starting my own business, which will hopefully add another 8-10k to that.

I’ll have to take a pay cut of sorts when I go to college though - I doubt I’ll have as much free time to work with as I do now.

I work in technical theatre and I just barely make 40k before taxes. I am very, very, very, very, very, very lucky to have a job at all in my field in this economy, never mind one that pays well. I also live in a very expensive area, so the money doesn’t go as far as I’d like it to. Oh well.

Political Campaign Manager, I pull in about 40K a year. In this area, that’s crap.

I’m starting law school in Sept though and will be working less, I’ll probably be down to about 34K.

Not looking forward to the pay cut…

I make $7 an hour workin at a coffeeshop in Virginia. Part time.

I also make tips, which come out to about $2 an hour.

Ooh yes, I forgot to mention the bennies from my job. Free tuition. Free health insurance. Free books. And about twelve weeks off a year, even with the summer job. Wouldn’t trade that last one for all the money in the world.

Government bureaucrat.

$41,000 per year.

Which is pretty good money for Montana (median salary = $23K).

Biologist with a BS here, 16 years experience, work for a publicly traded biotech company. I make between 70 and 75K, which is far more than I ever thought I would without an advanced degree. No commission, and bonuses are very rare indeed, although I have gotten rather generous stock and options in the past because I was one of the first employees at my company.

I carry newspapers. Usually I make about $1400-1600/month, but a big ol’ bunch of Christmas tips, so it comes out to about 18K a year. Not bad, considering that my route only takes 3 hours a day during the week. (I try not to think about Sundays…)

As my grandpa used to say, I’ve never had less or been happier. But like auntie em, I have to do the juggling-bills thing on an almost daily basis. The kids have learned that we have sodas OR we have chips: we don’t have both at the same time. Overall, everyone seems okay with it.

I’m the Data Specialist in the Actuarial department of a regional property/casualty insurance company. The job consists of SAS programming/spreadsheet work/Girl Friday. I feel pretty fortunate to be making $35K with only a good high school education and a lot of experience.

Registered Nurse. I made 24,000 last year working about 7 days a month because I’m mostly home with the kids. My rate is around 33.00 an hour, no benefits. Nursing rates of pay depend on the shift and day- you get a little more for afternoon and night shifts, weekend days, and for being “in charge.” If I worked full or part time, I think I would get about 28.00/hr or 56K (and benefits).
