Rugby Union- Wallabies Beat the All Blacks

Seems like 100 years since they did it, but it happened tonight and Australia win the tri nations.

Some good momentum for the World Cup coming up.

But more than ever I hope our Kiwi members read this (I am looking at you Banquet bear).

I didn’t see the match, but I was out walking last night while it was on. Every now and again loud cheers surged and echoed around North Sydney/Kirribilli, so it was obvious who was winning.

The Wallaby domination of the first half was pretty bloody ominous for us All Black fans. It’s been a long time since anyone’s been able to do that to an All Black team. Makes for an interesting World Cup though.

I was at the game last night. I’ve seen a fair few Wallaby - AB games, and not many Australian victories.

I thought the first half was the best I’ve seen against the All Blacks since the 92 match when Richard Loe smashed Paul Carrozza’s nose after he had just scored a try.

The Wallabies were aggressive at the breakdown and in defence in the first half, and quite simply they shocked the ABs. The Wallabies still have a problem with the scrum, and if Moore doesn’t learn to throw shortly he needs to go. Samo was brilliant, and at 35 he is continuing a long recent tradition of Polynesian back rowers who have excelled for the Wallabies - Willie O, Totai Kefu and Ille Tabua (the Human Skewer).

With Berrick Barnes back, they are going to have some hard choices in the mid field to make.

The AB comeback in the second half was an example of great coaching and a great team, however.

An Australia-NZ final at Eden Park would be something special.

…are we in the pit? Well damn! I can’t speak my mind! :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously: well done Australia and well done South Africa, they both outplayed NZ and deserved their victories. I’m a little bit worried myself: I’m not comfortable with the final selections and I thought Gear and Sitivini should have made it through to the team. All up, its gonna be a close, tight tournament, I’m not going to try and pick a winner!
