If an Amish teenager decides to learn to drive a car during rumspringa who rides with him while he only has a learner’s permit?
I’ve lived in areas where there was an Amish population. They regularly ride along to Walmart and McDonalds with Mennonite friends, so I imagine asking one of them would be an option.
I believe most statutes say something along the lines that the other driver just must be licensed and sometimes over a given age, not that they be related to the learner.
I heard that some localities have learned to deal with the resulting chaos that comes from inexperienced drivers attempting to teach other drivers; they’ve codified the special charge: “Driving while Amish”
