Running a PS2 through a computer monitor

MrSquishy started this thread several months ago and never got any response – at least, not publicly. And now, I find that I have the same question.

My wife and I were thinking it would be fun to move our PS2 into the computer room and be able to play through my 22" LCD. But after examining the situation, I’m not entirely sure it’s possible. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 6200LE graphics card that has an S-Video port on it, but I’m 98% certain that’s for running video out from the card to a display device. Someone smarter than me can tell me if I’m correct about that. As for the monitor, it only has inputs for DVI and VGA, of course.

So…is there some kind of adapter I can use to run the PS2 into my monitor (or the video card)?

You have 2 options.

1 - Something like this (I have no connection to the website, I’m just using it as an example)

I’m not sure of it’s compatibility, nor am I aware of it’s quality.

2 - Something like this (Same disclaimer as above applies)

This is guaranteed to work… But my understanding is the quality is completely terrible. Plus it’s twice the price of the other option.

Quite frankly neither is what I would consider a good option over a real television with the proper inputs.

And yes, the s-video is output only.
