PS2, LCD monitor. What do I need to know?

So now that they’re cheap, I’m thinking about getting a Playstation 2. Only, I don’t have a TV I can hook it up to. However, I’ve also been thinking about getting a new LCD monitor for my computer. So, I’ve been thinking about this . It has some kind of analog inputs and integrated speakers, so I think I would be able to hook up a PS2 without any need for adaptors or anything. Does that sound like it would work?

Also, I don’t know much about the PS2. Other than what comes in the box and some games, is there anything else I’ll need to buy? Do you need to buy a separate memory card to save games like I think I did with my old PS1?

I like driving games, will I want to get a steering wheel controller?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Hmm, I just realized that monitor may not have the right analog connectors for a PS2. I think it might just be a VGA input, which means I would need some kind of adapter, correct? Maybe instead of looking for a monitor, I should be looking for a TV? But I don’t really want to spend extra money on something that has a tuner I’ll never use. Any suggestions?

What kind of output does the PS2 have anyway? Is it those red, yellow, white connectors? Is that called composite or component? I can never remember.
