Running digital distribution game sale/special thread

I want to second this. This game is plain awesome.

Never played a Saints’ Row game, but had to get SR2 from Gamer’s Gate for $5.08. It’s downloading now…

New Humble Bundle - you know the drill by now, pay what you want, proceeds split between indie devs and charities, don’t be a dick.

The Introversion games (Darwinia, Defcon, Multiwinia, Uplink), Crayon Physics Deluxe, and Aquaria.

I hope this breathes some life into defcon - I want to play again.

Also, I started the black friday sales thread. Because there’s so much traffic so quickly, I create seperate threads for the big sales.

So apparently it’s now an “autumn” sale and not a black friday sale, and started early. Not sure how long it’ll last, but check out the thread I linked in my last post.

Amazon has begun their “19 Days of Deals” sale.

Today’s highlights include:
Deus Ex: HR for $20.
Dead Island for $20

Steam is having another one of those wishlist giveaway type things so keep your wishlist current. Take out all your games that are now $10 and put in Skyrim and stuff. At least for the top 10.

You just need to look at the game page of a different game that will be on sale each day. Today is Terraria for $2.50. If you just look at the store page (it’s linked on the steam front page) you get entered to win your top 10 wishlist games.

Also, Brink is having a free weekend and on sale for $5. I think I’m going to get it because it seemed alright last free weekend, and such a cheap sale might pick up the multiplayer again.

If anyone who even vaguely likes 2-d platformers and exploration games doesn’t have Terreria yet, it’s definitely worth the $2.50.

Amazon appears to have new digital deals every day.

Today has Witcher 2 for $16, Metro 2033 for $5 (recommended if you have a good PC), Amnesia $5, Darksiders $5, Arma 2 Combined Ops (original + operation arrowhead, this is by far the cheapest I’ve ever seen those games), Civ 5 GOTY with dlc content $30.

The daily/contest sale on steam today is Dungeon Defenders at $3.75. It’s not great but it’s kinda fun in coop, plus it can scratch your diablo style loot itch.

The daily sale on steam is Orcs Must Die For $3.75. I highly recommend the game - it’s really fun and polished. Might as well grab the little DLCs too with extra maps and traps for a little over $5 total (including game).

GoG.com is running a Christmas sale now. Unlike Steam, they’ve posted their schedule.

Most notably:
-Right now, you can get the Witcher 2 for $23.99, with the Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition included for free. They’re pretty much my favourite games, so I highly recommend them to anyone who doesn’t have them.
-On Monday to Wednesday (48 hours), they’ll be giving away Empire Earth: Gold Edition. Never played it, but I’ll pick it up at that price. (No need to download it immediately either, if you’re not able to for some reason. Just add it to your account while it’s free)
-From Monday, practically everything will be half price until 2 January.

Everything at GoG.com is DRM-free. Digital downloads only.

Today’s deal on Steam is Homefront for $7.49. As far as FPS mechanics go, it’s your standard FPS, and though I haven’t hopped onto its multiplayer yet, I can’t imagine there’d be a lot of people playing it. However, the setting and atmosphere is where Homeland really shines – despite being brutally linear, it’s a fascinating and disturbing glimpse of what an occupied US might look like. Plus, you get to wage guerrilla warfare through the suburbs, and that’s always fun.

Amazon has 19 games of deals in digital downloads, today is RPG day. Not sure if that link will stay current or if it’s day-specific.

Deus Ex for $20, Dungeon Defenders $3, Rift $5, Magicka Collection $4, Dungeon Siege 3… $5. That’s surprising.

Anyway, check it out daily, I may not announce all the deals.

GamersGate has Street Fighter 4 for $5, Dragon Age Ultimate edition for $10, Witcher enhanced edition for $5. Good deals - might be matched on steam next week but no guarantees.

Steam has the 5 telltale episodes of return to monkey island for $8 for a few hours more, and The Witcher 2 for $24 for another 12 hours.

Steam Christmas sale thread

it appears that Mass Effect 3 will require Origin and will not be available on Steam. what a dick move. i had intended to pay full retail for it, but i guess i could wait a couple of years and pay $10 instead. why would i want to install another storefront on my box? maybe i should skip the game altogether or buy a cracked copy. where do the kids get their pirated stuff nowadays? /sarcasm

Fuck Origin.

Those cheap bastards are trying to milk the worst parts of PC gaming.

Steam. Steam wins.

Steam supports indie developers, pushes patches out, and never asks me for money.

Steam WINS.

Yes, Origin sucks.

Am I going to pass up what is sure to be a great game because I gotta spend all of 2 minutes installing that garbage and 1 minute uninstalling a month later?

Uhm. No.

Be thankful you are PC gamers and aren’t going to spend what will likely be a not insignificant number of accumulated hours staring at a console load screen.

For laughs: - YouTube

Seriously guys, this is not a big deal.

Dammit, don’t you defuse my rare nerd rage!

Actually I think for most people it will be a sale/price point contest which Origin is going to lose.

With BF3 they had a huge community and the (fulfilled) promise of amazing multiplayer.

With ME3 they have…ummm…maybe multiplayer?

Why not wait for the inevitable sale and distribution on Steam? With BF3 Origin can hold out…Mass Effect 3 I think they will lose.

That’s true. Unless they come up with a more sensible price say $40 instead of $60, they will likely loose out.

I wonder if they’ll be smart enough to set an appropriate price. With a digital distribution platform, those $40 are still bringing in more money than a $60 console sale. Considerably more even.
