i have the first two on Steam, i’m not going to get the third one elsewhere. if i get the game on Origin i’ll still have to reinstall it at some point if i want to replay it. no, if i am going to be waiting at all, i might as well wait until it hits the sales circuit.
Not only would I prefer to get ME3 on Steam, I have loads of games that I’m working on already - Skyrim, Arkham City, AC: Revelations is the top of the list, with another dozen in the “not done yet” state, including Portal 2 multiplayer, DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, Civ V and so on.
And the City of Heroes subscription, of course.
Limiting the ways that people can buy your game is a bad idea, generally speaking. They better be getting a lot out of the audience lock-in to make up for the lost sales.
come to think of it, on the flipside, i am willing to pay the ridiculous premium price that Diablo 3 will ask for despite the fact that Blizzard has a storefront, DRM and requires a constant internet connection.i am probably biased since i have bought all their games, but these are simply unobtrusive and well implemented. they gave you a copy of the game if you still have your old CD key, the DRM is well integrated and deters cheaters, and their games focus mainly on multiplayer.
Fiddlesticks about Diablo 3! I refuse to buy any game that requires a constant internet connection (unless it’s an online-only game, of course). Was going to buy Assassin’s Creed 2, but Ubisoft just pissed me off with their crazy DRM stuff. Makes you wanna turn to piracy, innit?
The team behind it are the same guys from the Gothic series. It’s not as polished an experience as something like Skyrim, but it does a good job of sucking you into the world. Combat is a lot tougher than skyrim, and it’s a bit awkward, IMHO.
Definitely worth $6 though, I payed $29 and I feel I got my money’s worth easily.
I guess after frequent complaints from earlier sales of Risen due to the DRM, Amazon has a DRM-free version now. So you just download the 2GB game and you’re done. Nothing to log into or codes; just install and play.
Space Marine for $12.50 at Greenmangaming starting midnight Eastern Time. US customers only. I have no idea if its any good or not but it sounded like a significant enough deal to mention.
