Rush Limbaugh is a dick of the highest order

Which is no reason we can’t conduct ourselves with civility, you stupid mouthbreathin’ hick!

I do. Do you dispute that my cites lead to Rush Limbaugh and his transcripts and statements and emails on the issue in question?

I find it frankly dim of you to dispute me on this.

Ummm, yeah. ok.

I very much doubt that anyone is suggesting that you have posted a fiendisly clever set of fake links that lead to elaborately contrived false sites. No, more like a) Rush is a fart blimp who is not to be beleived and b) you, for reasons that escape us, have found a way to do just that.

That is of course Rush’s objection. If you look just at that link and ignore all that he said before and after and view it completely out of context it does appear he is making fun of Fox.

If you listened or watched, it was clear he was not doing so. In fact, he took pains to explain the substance of his position which was:

-Fox did not appear as he had apeared on tv.
-He had appeared this way in front of senate or Congress
-He had stated that he had not taken medication during that appearance so the full ravages of the disease could be seen.
-He speculated that he might be doing something like that again.
-His facts were misleading and incorrect.
-Because someone is a victim they do not have the right to speak ex cathedra and be immune from substantive criticism.

I agree with Rush in these statements.

I think it is stupid to attack Rush personallly. If his arguments are flawed that would seem to be the place to attack wouln’t it? You need only attack the man if his arguments are immune.

I will state categorically as one who was listening for over an hour that day that Rush was not making fun of or belittling Fox. The transcript backs this up.

I think that’s more powerful than a few seconds of sound bite and video taken out of context, don’t you?

I did good in the marathon. My wife ran with me. It was her first one. I’m tired so I prolly won’t be back tonight.

take care.

The issue here is not what he is, but what he actually said and did. The former is a matter of opinion. The latter is a matter of fact. I provided the links to these facts. I do not see what there is to dispute, or what tomatos have to do with it.

Friend Redfury appears to have blown a gasket.

You can listen to Rush Limbaugh for an hour? Man, waterboarding ain’t gonna scare you none.

Perhaps you have not yet seen the video of Rush during that broadcast as he is mocking Fox. The video of Rush begins at 1:03. To claim he is doing anything less than ridiculing a man’s disabilities is disingenuous at best, and flat out denial at the worst.

Scylla, again: those four things at the very top of your link: every single one of them was grossly misleading nonsense. Do you endorse them as being truthful?

Scylla, congratulations on your successful participation in the marathon, and the same to your wife.

I tried to follow the steps and connect the dots from the links you posted in #126, but I just couldn’t figure out a timeline. I’m not getting a clear picture of what Rush said, when, and what people said in response to it, and when they did that. His site has every page looking pretty much like every other page.

One of the things that confuses me is the link to what Limbaugh describes as The Monologue That Started It All. Right there in the first paragraph, he says, “I stand corrected.” That suggests to me that before this monologue was aired, he was getting flak from people for casting aspersions about Michael J Fox’s credibility. Where’s the link to the transcript of the monologue in which he initially does that? Why wouldn’t that be “The Monologue That Started It All”? Or does it have something to do with the instances of “BREAK TRANSCRIPT” that appear periodically throughout the page?

Watching what you are calling the out of context clip shown on the Olbermann segment, I hear Rush using words and phrases that don’t appear in what he is calling the transcript of “The Monologue That Started It All”. So, forgive me, but I don’t find that to be putting Rush’s behavior in the clip into any sort of context that is favorable to him. Could you possibly help me find the transcript to the monologue that includes that behavior? Because, without giving us that, anything that he posts afterward is going to look like spin, damage control, and yes, back-pedalling.

Your favorite LEFTWINGCUTESYSEMANTICBITCH (still haven’t choked yet  )

And who is “the Breck Girl”? I don’t get that at all.

Nor did I say that it did. Accepting assertions, many of them bordering on illogical or improbable on their face does. I have no problem at all with someone who comes to a position in disagreement of my own if they do so from a position of knowing the facts. Anyone who spreads mis- or disinformation or supports those who do, especially on the topic of stem cell research goes right to the bottom of my list.

I’m a bit surprised by someone with a Ph.D. in a science who thinks that things should be accepted uncritically. Especially something they heard on a talk radio show from a guy who has the track record of Rush Limbaugh. And I say this as someone with a Ph.D. in a “soft” science. How do you evaluate claims made by others in your field? How do you critically read articles?

Sure. But there’s a difference between not having the time to educate oneself and simply accepting with credulity something said on the radio.

Unfortunately not. Rush Limbaugh, for example, has a right to say anything at all, and routinely avails himself of that right. You have the right to accept whatever he says on the basis that he must be right because so many people can check out what he says. I have the right to say that that is a really unintelligent practice.

Shampoo addict. Tragic story.

According to Republican Cubin, she threatened to slap a man in a wheelchair because:

Did Limbaugh actually say that?

You know, I recall a few years back, a number of notable politicians and public figures were getting sent envelopes of white powder with threatening letters. Among the recipients was former president Clinton, and Rush soon accused him of faking it just to get attention.

Now, Rush accuses Fox of faking his symptoms just to get attention.

I realize this proves nothing conclusive about Rush’s hearing loss, but I can’t help but be reminded of the saying “liars always think everyone else is lying.”

He’s just trying to live up to his “Limbaugh 4EVAR” tattoo, y’know?

(He was young and drunk… 'nuff said! ;))

Don’t know whether I should start a new thread, but this certainly applies to the thread title:
