Rush Limbaugh lies. What a shocker!!!!!!!

Thanks for the link. By the way what exactly is so vile about this site? It’s good reading.

It seems odd to accuse a site run by Lucianne Goldberg of being too Christian.

Its not that Rush NEVER had any dignity or integrity. The morning had a long dry spot between when the box of doughnuts was empty and when he could take lunch…
…and he was Hungry…

Yeah, he misses a fair amount more than he hits. But sometimes he nails it, and when he does, it’s funny.

In the aforementioned book by Franken, he relates a story about hosting a roast-type event inside the Beltway when Clinton was president. He had written some new jokes for the occasion, and he approached Tipper Gore with one, because he wasn’t sure it was appropriate.

Franken said to Tipper (paraphrasing), “I think this may be over the top, but I want your opinion. The joke is, ‘Vice-President Gore is determined to take his stance on environmental issues to the next level. So, instead of putting a new stick up his ass every day, he’s going to finish out his duties as VP with the same stick up his ass, thus saving countless sticks.’”

He said Tipper just looked at him for a moment and then said, “That’s probably over the top.”

He knows who his listeners are. That would explain his lack of respect for them. Hint: The people who listen to talk radio are the sort who have nothing better to do with their waking hours than to listen to talk radio, knowhutImean?

But seriously, as an entertainer, he has to make his audience feel good about themselves or they’ll drift away and damage his income and notoriety. He has to help them feel they were and are both intellectually right and morally superior life forms. It doesn’t matter that it’s bullshit, and it wouldn’t even matter if it were true.

Oh, where to begin…posters there blaming Clinton for both the Challenger and Columbia disasters, psoters posting some of the most homophobic thoughts I’ve ever read, posters blaming Clinton for everything bad that has happened in the US for the last 60 years:rolleyes:, posters making the most vile comments about Chelsea that I’ve ever heard or read anywhere…I could go on, but I’m getting an upset stomach just writing this.

speak for yourself, please. Some of us loathed GHWB with the fire of a thousand suns.

Semantics. Hatred isn’t always based in ignorance (Though I think once you get angry you tend to start making more rash argumets,) and rationality doesn’t always lead to hatred.

Saying:

I hate Bush/Clinton.

and

I am appalled by a man who starts a regional conflict to preserve dubious future intrests/who gets his knob shlobbed in the oval office.

Are basically interchangable. One just gives a little more of the “because”, thats all. The implication is that there IS no because in the first case, but like I said, thats just a semantic trick.

This is probably out of context a little. Many on the left, following Marxist principles, totally discount the role of the capitalist in creating wealth. The Marxist believes that only the performance of work upon materials generates wealth. Rush is probably saying something like this to refute that position, to recognize the importance of the capitalist in generating wealth in the economy. Unless he think robots are going to do all the work, he probably doesn’t actually consider the workers of no value, but both elements should be recognized. The capitalist purchases the workers’ labor-power, so clearly he values it. The workers sell their labor-power, so clearly they recognize that they can get more from the capitalist then they could on their own. The successful capitalist incorporates the laborers into an efficient process designed to generate more wealth as a cohesive unit than the sum of the individuals’ labor-power would have. To ignore either side of the relationship is idiotic, but I can’t imagine that’s what Rush was really doing. There are plenty of workers and leftist groups who totally discount the importance of the capitalist, and there’s the Marxist tradition to draw upon for those that make that error. I haven’t really heard anyone seriously propose that the workers contributed nothing. They might sometimes be characterized as interchangable grunts of no particular value or skill, performing a job anyone could do, but they still undeniably are doing it.

Oh, and I’m not so sure about whether I’d consider Rush’s family “wealthy”. From what I know, they were just upper-middle-class. Upper middle-class in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, isn’t exactly “Silver Spoons.” They have some family connections that enabled Rush and a few other family members to get decent jobs, but that’s nothing special. While I personally do not, most of my fellow law students have some connection or another to a judge or prosecutor or sheriff or politician back in their home county that they’ll exploit for a job if they need to. In rural Missouri counties, connections aren’t just for the wealthy.

Remember when Rush showed a picture of Chelsea and called her a dog? That man is vile.

She was a thirteen year old girl. EVERYONE and their grandmother was talking about how “ugly” she was. Can you imagine how that poor girl felt? Thirteen as an age is bad enough for us girls without people like RUSH FUCKING LIMBAUGH call us dogs.

Amusing Tipper anecdote:

I former professor of mine was heavily involved with Gore’s Presidential campaign back in '88. Apparently, they had a few guys at political fundraising events assigned to the task of silencing Tipper, keeping her from saying much to the donors. The concern of course was her personal efforts at that time to silence the lyrics of several well-known recording artists. Censorship not being popular among Democratic voters, and the entertainment industry being a good source of funds for Democratic hopefuls, Tipper was considered a bit of a liability during the primary campaign.

Tipper and Al are both so boring and uptight, they’re a match made in heaven. That she has no sense of humour surprises me not at all  I don’t know how partying, fun-loving, live-and-let-live President Clinton ever got along with either of them. Some people enjoy life, others enjoy preventing people from doing so.

Shodan:

What? Shodan, are you crazy? Much better examples of pathological Bush-hatred come from Stoid and Diogenes the (selective) Cynic.

Absolutely wrong. You either have no concept of the meaning of semantics, or are trying to kid yourself. There is no interchangeability or any kind of moral equivalence between a war, in which real people get killed, and the reasons for and against are embedded in the very nature of the country and of democracy and are therefore everyone’s business whether they care to participate in it or not, and a consensual private act that is nobody’s business whatsoever…

To draw such an equivalency is, however, typical of the RW approach that anything they do is OK if they can somehow draw a parallel to Clinton, or, better yet, blame him for it. In fact, though, it’s obscene to even say it, much less dismiss it as “semantics”.

Now grow the fuck up, kid.

LOL. Way to stick it to Diogenes. Oh, and being cynical means looking critically at somebody’s assertions, but it leaves open the possibility of accepting those assertions after examining them. So I wouldn’t say he’s cynical at all. He just rejects right-winger assertions out of hand and blindly accepts radical left-wing assertions without examining them at all.

Of course, at least with Diogenes the left-wing drivel comes from others’ mouths, to him, and then here. Unlike Chumpsky who just stole their material and placed it here directly.

I think that is quite unfair. He has lost weight.

Elvis, I think you misunderstood him. Either that, or I did, or I misunderstood you. My take on it was that Maximum C was trying to suggest that “I hate Bush” and “I am appalled by a man who starts a regional conflict to preserve dubious future intrests” are interchangeable. Similarly, “I hate Clinton” and “I am appalled by a man who gets his knob shlobbed in the oval office” are interchangeable. Not that war and blowjobs are interchangeable. Capisce?

Oh, and lest you blindly leap to assumptions further: in his brief time here, it is become pretty clear to anyone who has seen his postings in GD or the Pit, that Maximum C is hardly a right-wing nutjob.

Hey, my left-wing drivel is mine and mine alone…and I have np problem admitting that I hate Bush. I don’t claim any moral highground. I ain’t no virgin. I have a radical, left-wing, quasi-socialist bias and I admit it. I amappalled that somebody with that lack of character, discipline, intelligence or wisdom has actually ascended to the White House, and I also hate the little prick.

Rush is doing allot better than some of you. And Bush is as well.

Think about that, no, don’t bother.
We have the house and the senate!!! We rock!!! hehehe

I don’t know you very well, Shodan, but shut up.

Esprix

Yep. They both have jobs.
