When was the last time a major radio or TV personality made up something like this about their health? When?
Making up a story that can be easily (and inevitably) refuted is the equivalent of career suicide. And you feel that Limbaugh is doing this to further his career? It just doesn’t wash. He’s 50 years old, he’s successful, he’s an old radio pro. He has clawed his way up to national fame - and then you think he’d risk it all for some sophomoric stunt that will most assuredly get out? (You don’t really think he can fake deafness forever, do you?) And after his fraud is exposed, he will lose all his supporters, of course. And you think he’s so stupid he’d do this? You may think he’s a liar, but do you think he wants to willfully destroy his own career too?
It just doesn’t make any sense. I think this is wishful thinking on your part, because you dislike him so intensely. There really isn’t any basis for your suspicion, just your own dislike for the guy.
Hell, I dislike Howard Stern, but I don’t think he’d do something like this. Just because someone represents something I dislike, even if I think they twist the truth on the air - it doesn’t mean they are so stupid as to ruin their whole career over a stupid stunt. I can’t imagine anyone who has made anything of themselves in the media (like Rush Limbaugh undoubtedly has) is this stupid.

It’s so nice to feel smug about someone else’s pain, isn’t it? And suppose that they somehow had it coming, or somehow it’s “ironic”, isn’t it? Just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, doesn’t it? Being able to gloat like that. Because it’s all “poetic justice”. Like “justice” has anything to do with it.
Hell, my big sister was a real bitch to me when I was a kid. She stole my stuff, bullied me constantly, and ruined my artwork. (I was a fledgling artist, always painting and stuff.) So it sure was “poetic justice” when she lost most of her eyesight while still in her 20s. Because she was a bully and a bitch to me at times. Yeah, so why should I feel sorry for her? Why should I feel sad? It’s freaking poetic justice, right?
What a bunch of assholes. When you see someone you care about suddenly lose one of their senses, and NO ONE can seem to stop it, it isn’t funny. There’s nothing freakin’ “poetic” about it. I don’t care if the person it happens to is someone you think is an ass. There’s no “justice” in this, dammit.
