Russia invades Ukraine {2022-02-24} (Part 2)

Wait though. If the tires are holding heat, and are on the wings and fuselage of an airplane They are giving off an IR signal in the shape of an airplane after the sun goes down longer than just the airplane would.

Unless UK is using fragmentation munitions that explode above the airplane (I really don’t know but think they are contact munitions) I don’t see how those tires would protect from a near mis, or hitting a different airplane. The tires would only help protect from falling frag/debris which I doubt is much of an issue as it would only be terminal velocity. A near mis could of course hit the SIDE of the fuselage, but there are no tires there.

Ukrainians launched a giant Ukrainian flag over Russian-occupied Donetsk. It’s said that Russian anti-aircraft assets revealed their positions trying to shoot it down.

I’m unhappy with all of those balloons in the air, but it’s in a good cause.

Various YouTube channels are reporting significant gains. That generally appears to be supported by ISW. Although ISW doesn’t give the details of battles like Reporting from Ukraine, Denys Davydov, and Suchomimus. They’re definitely worth watching to stay informed. Various sources confirm the attack and seizure of the oil platforms.

Sometimes you just gotta do something to boost morale. I was wondering if red and black means anything or if they were just what was handy.

Color me mystified. What might your unhappiness be about?

Just the general pollution of balloons. It’s a minor issue.

At least, a pretty hefty load of micro plastics, in where ever the balloon flag will fall and decompose.

I had the impression it was tethered so they could get their giant flag back. Take care of the balloon trash when you retrieve the flag.

Me too. I don’t think the flag itself is made out of balloons. And considering the lead being thrown around, well, “It’s hard to worry about draining the swamp when you are ass deep in alligators”.

“Unless UK is using fragmentation munitions that…”

I’m pretty sure that’s not us.

Ooops.

I suspect the platforms will be targeted by Russian missiles. That seems to be their policy. Destroy what assets they don’t control.

:ukraine: is UA, :uk: is UK.

UK has provided heavy-lift drones to UA:

Kim Jong Un has arrived in Russia to meet Putin for their second ever face-to-face.

How do you even enjoy the scenery whizzing by at that pace?

It’s more like oozing by.

How does Kim’s train travel to wherever the meeting place is over Russian gauge track? Or do they meet near the border?

According to the BBC live blog last night:

According to local media, previously, Kim’s train stopped at Tumangang station on the border, to swap wheels to enable it to run on Russia’s wider tracks.

On that occasion, the wheel change took about 70 minutes. The train then made the very short journey across the border to the Russian town of Khasan, where a ceremony - which lasted about an hour - took place.
