Russia invades Ukraine {2022-02-24} (Part 2)

A Pantsir has recently been placed on the Ministry of Defense building in Moscow. It would be great if it accidentally killed Putin.

I’m rather surprised it hasn’t fallen through the roof yet.

And, of course, he’s going to back up his rhetoric by leading the charge, right? Right??

Estonia would be unlikely, IMO, since it’s in NATO. Moldova would be my guess. Or Georgia. Kazakhstan has been making a little movement away from Russia recently, Putin might try to squash that too.

In a completely juvenile response, my reaction to reading this name is to keep thinking that the Russians are busy pulling everyone’s pants down around their ankles.

Pantsir? I don’t even know 'er!

 :joy:

Yes, the ammo mostly goes by air. Lots of seaport restrictions on ammunition shipments in both the US and Europe.
Vehicles: “Vehicle Cargo Ships are Roll-On/Roll-Off (RO/RO) ships used to rapidly transport US military unit equipment such as tanks, helicopters, wheeled vehicles and other heavy equipment, to support deployed forces worldwide. These ships are normally maintained in a reduced operating status, capable of being fully activated within a few days. A nucleus crew maintains each ship, with additional crew members coming aboard for activation. The ships are activated periodically to participate in exercises and operations. The Vehicle Cargo Ships are operated by a private sector company under contract with the Military Sealift Command and crewed by U.S. Merchant Marine personnel.” Vehicle Cargo Ships - AKR

And we (US) have Stinger missiles (Avenger) on the White House roof and some other DC buildings.

If recently installed, though, it could be an indication that Moscow is feeling increasingly nervous about the distance that Ukraine is able to strike at targets in Russia.

Looks like they fear their own territory will be attacked from above.

Those are all coup targets.

That, too.

going from “We will conquer Kiew in 3 days” to “We must defend Moscow against Ukr. air-attacks” in less than a year …

That - on a macro level - tells you a lot how this war is going for russia

The video should be accompanied by the Willie Nelson song “On the Road Again”

US to designate Russia’s Wagner Group as ‘transnational criminal organization’.

I’m a little surprised it wasn’t already.

Here’s a member of the Russian parliament posing with the specially-engraved Wagner sledgehammer that commemorates the execution of prisoners with sledgehammers.

Or have shifted their efforts to maintaining military equipment. I’m sure the Ukrainian military is paying well for anyone who knows how to keep a helicopter flying.

So there was a reason for all the washing machine theft! Blame the CIA for not uncovering that threat. Once again, it takes a Doper to uncover the plot. Thumbs up to @Tamerlane, you may have just found a way to shorten the war!!

What the hell is even going on there? Is there a drunk guy in there or can that thing fire by itself? Target acquisition seems to be a little off.

Not seeing any evidence of a drunk guy. It could pass for normal operation to my mind.

It can likely fire by itself. The US has had the Phalanx system for at least 40 years. I looks for targets moving at least 150mph and radially decreasing (getting closer). It fires of its own volition.
