The best outcome would be Russia being economically crippled to the point where it can’t even think about pulling this crap for the next few decades.
The best outcome would be Putin and a couple hundred other Russian civilian and military officials sitting in cells for the rest of their lives after being convicted in public war-crimes trials, but of course that’s never going to realistically happen.
Why give them the benefit of the doubt?
I’m just assuming that they are just misinformed because of their shitty news sources rather than an actual Russian troll (or Russian sympathizer) purposely spreading misinformation to further their cause.
Lord knows there are enough people around who are fooled by their shitty news source.
You have to actively work at getting RT nowadays, don’t you?
I don’t think so – I just typed in rt.com and it went right there.
Sounds like you’re “just asking questions”, ala Fox News.
K: “Chocolate bars are not a superfood. Try this - it’s better. We should try new foods”
M: It looks like a piece of dog shit
K: Maybe it’s a delicious superfood! Try it!
M: It smells like dog shit. I’m pretty sure it’s dog shit.
K: We won’t know if you don’t try it! Maybe it’s better than your chocolate bar!
M: Dude, we both saw this come out of a dog’s ass. It’s dogshit, and I won’t put it in my mouth
Aah, I was thinking of the TV channel, not the website.
Please expand; by whom could “It could have been avoided,” and with what concessions? Did Ukraine violate some kind of norms by seeking to be a more democratic nation, free of control by post-Soviet Russia? Should, as John Mearsheimer (who I’m morally certain you are referencing) suggest, Ukraine have submitted to Russian security ‘oversight’ as a bipolar counterbalance to NATO? Shoudl we now eject the Baltics and maybe some of the Balkan nations from NATO to appease Putin’s need to be large and in charge? Why not just gift Poland over to whatever security alliance Russia will lead; I’m sure they won’t mind and have no memory of leading the charge against the Warsaw Pact and what it did to their economy and civil liberties. You know, all sides make good points, and the world was a pretty cozy and safe place during the Cold War, so lets wind back the clock to sequential proxy wars and pointless escalations by senile old men who are as paranoid about their domestic opponents as they are about world affairs that either might justify global nuclear conflict.
Stranger
Apparently Ukraine is at fault because they goaded Russia by continuing to exist.
And now, it’s clear that all Ukranians are nazis because they did not welcome the Russian invaders. So the entire population must be exterminated.
This is the line from Russia now. Anyone who repeats Russian propaganda is in favor of genocide, and is a piece of shit.
Yeah, I’m sure if Putin secretly called up NATO and offered to split Poland and that would the end of his territorial ambitions, we should totally believe that will be the end of it and will avoid further hostilities. I’m sure that’s always worked in the past.
Just offer him the Sudetenland and surely the Ukrainians will have peace in our time.
Those were historically and ethnically Russians, right? We should let them be with their people after all
