Russian Lukoil chief dies in 'fall from hospital window' {2022-09-01}

Ravil Maganov, chief of Lukoil has died after “falling from a hospital window” in Moscow, reports say.

This comes after several other Russian energy bosses have died in mysterious circumstances.

  • The body of millionaire Novatek former manager Sergei Protosenya was found alongside his wife and daughter at a Spanish villa in April
  • A former vice-president of Gazprombank, Vladislav Avayev, was found dead with his wife and daughter in their Moscow flat, also in April
  • In May, a former Lukoil tycoon Alexander Subbotin died of heart failure, reportedly after seeking alternative treatment from a shaman.

It looks a bit like an old-fashioned Stalinist purge.

Anyone got an idea of how this will pan out?

This case is especially intriguing. Reportedly, Subbotin was found dead at the shaman’s house after being treated with toad venom for a hangover.

Could the toad have been spiked with plutonium at the orders of Putin? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Could just be a periodic or regular thing. Defenestration is rather a common malady in Russia, after all.

Doctors early in the pandemic (when Russia was still pretending it was only a problem for other countries) were mysteriously falling out of windows. And Russian journalists have consistently had issues with open windows for years.

You’d think at this point that they’d design better windows or at least update existing ones.

Probably Russians have learnt the fire risks of careless smoking, and are leaning out the windows while they smoke, then over-balance.

Many in Russia suffer from big-headedness, while others have heavy hearts.

Didn’t Stalin just line them up against the wall, Yekaterinburg style?

What it means is that Putin fears that the oligarchs are no longer loyal and is making examples out of some of them. Or, it means that someone else is eliminating rival power structures to be in a stronger position in post-Putin Russia. In any case, Russia is politically very unstable at the moment.

Also another death of a Putin critic in DC and there have been other untimely deaths of critics of Putin.

Maybe Putin is acting on super top secret intelligence classified in the US as TS/SCI indicating that Mr. Maganov was working with the Americans as an intelligence asset, and he’s sending Trump a message: “Thanks, buddy!”

Maybe… but plutonium is not that fast-acting so it would have been waste of radioactive isotope. Probably really was toad venom.

I think that Putin is reminding Russian elites that he is still in charge. The executive who fell out of the hospital window had been critical of the invasion of Ukraine. Autocrats can’t let something like that go unanswered.

At least he went in a way that is not contraversial or open to speculation. Cut and dried and clear as mud.
It probably had nothing to do with Donald Trump spilling classified information on spies. Likewise the explosion that killed the daughter of “Putin’s Brain”.
Probably had nothing at all to do with the top secret information Trump has been spilling.
No, scratch that, that’s speculative. Both deaths might have nothing to do with the top secret information that Not President Donald Trump has been hiding.
People are saying.

Russian news agency says he died falling out of a window.

But, his energy company says he died after a long illness.

I didn’t realise that buildings in Moscow were so tall that it took a long time to reach the ground.

When nobody else accepts the job of energy executive because it is too dangerous Putin will be forced to accept this burden himself. To serve his country. May work out for the best in the end.
I believe there are only first floor windows in Mar-a-Lago and the windows in Trump Tower do not open. Well, there is always novichok…
ETA: Polonium 210 makes you lose your hair! Bonus points!

That’s my goto for a hangover.

Toad venom must be an “adaptogen”, as it is said to cause and cure hangover.

“In our own studies, we have seen signs of serotonergic syndrome at high doses, which in humans can lead to fatality,” Araujo says…"

"Advanced addiction and substance specialist Matt Glowiak, PhD says, “At high doses, individuals may become disoriented, nauseated, and even white-out. A hangover effect may last for several days.”

Of course, that’s if you smoke toad venom; injecting it is undoubtedly safer. :upside_down_face:
Gotta feel sorry for the poor abused toads.

Too bad about Subbotin. Ain’t that a shaman?

Smoking toad is for children. Wait 'til you try smoking bishop.

Gravity, eh? A very dangerous thing. And it’s everywhere! No place is safe.

Gravity means never having to say; “What’s up?”

I think Putin prefers polonium.
