I figured there must be a thread on this somewhere… so forgive me if I’m duplicating (and lock if necessary) but I can’t find it.
Anyway, latest news is that the American and British cargo planes carrying unmanned rescue vehicles have arrived. I haven’t heard much about the capability of the British vehicle, but the American one claims to be able to cut through steel cables.
It looks like the story of what is keeping it down there is changing now…
I can’t really picture what exactly they’re talking about… the sub is stuck because it can’t get loose of an anchor? Hopefully once one of the robotic subs gets down there they can figure out what’s going on, and do something about it.
As of 4 a.m. ET the Russians are saying the crew has about 24 hours of oxygen left (that number has been bouncing around, but obviously time is of the essence).
Thank you for that link in this late hour. I’ve been trying to follow this a hoping for a happy ending. Nice to hear just before going to sleep.
Now to get the shuttle home safe.
Night.
So cool. Yeah Brits. People learning to work together. May be some hope for this world yet. Glad Russian were quick to ask for help. Glad UK, USA and Japan were quick to respond.
Yes, with the Kursk inciedent they delayed asking for help then cynically lied about the incident. But more recently Russia learns lessons of Kursk disaster
So how does a sub get tangled up in a fishing net to begin with? Ivylad was a sonar tech in the Navy and ain’t no way in hell a fishing net was going to stop one of those babies.
Welcome back to the world of air and sunshine, guys.
I hate to highjack, but the “final threads of the iron curtain” are nowhere even close to falling. In fact, Putin seems to be trying to reweave the thing out of whole fabric and put it right back in place.
