I’m both horrified and mildly intrigued. As long as he doesn’t insist on casting himself.
I should have included a link. Clue Remake Starring Ryan Reynolds Taps Oren Uziel to Write
I’m totally here for any Ryan Reynolds-produced project, more so if he’s acting in it. I’ve really enjoyed all of his recent output that I’ve seen, immensely.
It’s been more hits than misses for me. Deadpool 2 was pretty meh, and I didn’t care about Hitman’s Bodyguard. I’ll be curious to see the cast especially since the list for the Knives Out sequel is jam-packed.
I enjoy Ryan Reynold’s work (Deadpools, Free Guy, even some of his earlier rom-com stuff). But he generally only plays Ryan Reynolds so the movie has to be more than just Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds (I’m looking at you Red Notice)
I see he is also going to be playing Dirk the Daring in an upcoming live action Dragon’s Lair film. That might be funny.
Is there a name for this? It’s not typecasting…
“Reynolds Wrapping”?
Nice
I loved both this and the sequel. Reynolds + Jackson just worked. Makes me sorry there wasn’t any Deadpool+Fury scenes
OMG. I hadn’t heard there was a Dragon’s Lair film. Will the first half of it just be Dirk going left instead of right and then getting fried or falling off a cliff and having to start over?
I personally liked Deadpool 1 and 2. I also liked Free Guy.
I agree with you about Hitman’s Bodyguard. I didn’t care much for that or for Red Notice.
I think at this point he’s pretty well locked into this as being his “brand”, so like it or not it’s all Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds from here on out.
I think that’s ok for some things, like Deadpool, but otherwise I’m with you. I don’t think you can build an entire movie around it.
I thought they got it right the first time. Why does it need to be remade?
An eternal question, never properly answered in most cases.
Loved Deadpools; loved HMB; did not love the sequel. I mean, it’s OK - there’s worse ways to waste a couple of hours - but not among my favorites of his work.
Money. It’s probably easy money.
To be fair, Tim Curry usually plays Tim Curry and he did just fine.
Except the original didn’t make any money.
The game is distributed by Hasbro, which has been making movies based on its games recently (GI Joe, Transformers, the Ouija board, Battleship, etc.). My guess is if the new one can be made relatively cheaply, it will make money at the box office.
A remake of Clue has some really big boots to fill. I recently saw a stage performance of Clue, and throughout the entire performance all I could think was, “The movie did this better.”
My GOD, movie people! Stop even thinking about remaking perfect films!
I walked into class early and my students were ranting about that very subject. I said “Obviously, I agree,” and pointed to my Goonies t-shirt.
Ooh, maybe Ryan can play Mr. Boddy (and get killed in the first few minutes).
.
I directed that sequence. And many sequels.
