So here I am in San Antonio, Texas for the Special Libraries Assn conference. Trying to sell things to librarians ain’t like dusting crops, boy!
I’m sitting at a terminal at the Lexis-Nexis booth horribly abusing their hospitality to post a hello to my fellow dopers. Odds are that I can’t post much through Thursday but I thought I’d say hello.
I feel so addicted.
Anyway, wish me luck not melting. The Blue Ridge mountains were never as hot as this. At 8:15 this morning it was already above 90 degrees and I’m staying indoors as much as possible.
Oh well, at least I’m living on an expense account.
Why are you lonely when you have the whole Bear family here in San Antonio? Hmmm?? Email me, or look in the phone book under Tomlinson, Mel and Karyn and give us a call. Glad you’re here, and yes, the weather is all too normal for this time of year. MsRobyn is also here, so maybe we can get together for a mini-dopefest.
Go meet Purplebear for drinks. She’s a lovely lady (forgiving too!). I met here when I was in San Antonio last year for a conference and I had a wonderful time. Did I mention she was the forgiving type? I hope y’all are able to hook up…unlike Saturday when I stood her up when she was in town. I’m such a putz!
Now, Grace, I forgive you. Of course I do. But, you owe me a drink when I come up at the end of the month, if I can make it.
JC emailed me with his phone number, and we’re meeting tonight for dinner. The Bear clan will be there, except Bluebear, due to a prior committment. I am emailing MsRobyn now, hoping it’s not too late for her to join us. I don’t have her phone number or I’d just call. Either way, we intend to have fun, and I’ll let you know how it goes.
JimB, you were an exceptional dinner partner, <even if you did make me wait in the sun for you to find me ;)> and it was a pleasure as always to see you. I look forward to meeting Runadoc; especially after seeing the way your eyes lit up while talking about her.
Well, much props and thanks to the clan of the purplebear for going out to dinner with me last night. They really know their mexican food out here. Who knew?

You’re quite welcome, JC. We were delighted to join you. Especially since you insisted that your company would be tickled pink to pay for our dinner. That was most kind of you to offer. I had hoped to see you again today, perhaps show you what other marvels this town has to offer, but I guess you were busy after all.
And, ladies, JSYK, JC is every bit as handsome as he seems on the board, and quite a gentleman. Very happily married; and I adored his new tattoo. So, ask him to show his tattoo to everyone.

Sorry I couldn’t be there Tuesday night, however, I’m not living in San Antonio anymore. I’ve been in Houston since the end of may, and I anticipate being here for a while yet.
It sounds like y’all had a lot of fun, tho, and I would’ve liked to be there.
