Seems like I only come back here for sad news anymore. I just saw Santo Rugger’s mother post the following on the Prayers for Patrick Facebook group his family maintains for updates on him:
(Original thread on Santo Rugger’s accident)
“It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you all that Patrick was placed in hospice care this week. During this very final chapter of his life, please remember his indefatigable spirit. He has fought a very long and arduous fight and has never given up. He is resting peacefully now. Please continue to keep Pat and our family in your prayers.”
I just came here to post this. I can’t belive it’s been seven years almost to the day since his accident. My heart is breaking for his mother; she has been tireless and fierce in advocating for his care over the years. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but lately he’d been doing really well, even getting out and about with his caregiver. Everyone had such high hopes … and now this? Almost unbearably sad. Patrick was a kind, happy, vibrant man and he’ll be missed by many. He loved politics and Barack Obama and I think he would have enjoyed this crazy election we’re going through. I’ve really missed engaging with him and always held out hope that someday his brain would heal itself enough to find a way to communicate and come back and start posting again. I’m absolutely devastated for his mother and all his family and friends.
