Saddam's Snappy Dressing

I picked up a TIME magazine today at the grocery store while waiting in line. Reading it over my peanut butter sandwich this afternoon, I noticed a large picture of Saddam (taken, I believe, during his trial).

Although he seems to only have one suit (all the photos I’ve seen during the trial are the same outfit - or maybe they only allowed photos on one day), I must say, the fallen dictator (or the coalition forces providing him clothes) has some excellent fashion sense.

You may disagree, but I’d say that “Dictator Casual” looks pretty smart.

Boo-yah!
I beg to differ!
You’ve gotta be shitting me

What fashion sense? It’s an ordinary grey striped suit, white shirt, top button unbuttoned.

IIRC, his trial hasn’t begun yet.

I see nothing wrong with the way he’s dressed. Granted I’ve never seen him dress like that before…but hey…he’s in prison eating Dorritos.

I think “you got to be shitting me” is more like “if this was 3 years ago I’d be putting the 'trodes to your 'nads”

Back in the '90s when he was giving the finger Bill Clinton, Saddam got his picture in the press as much for wearing “colorful clothes” (I read this in the Arabic newspaper Asharq al-Awsat, verbatim: “albisah mulawwanah”) as for playing geopolitical hardball. It seems he fancied himself a dandy in addition to his other “talents.”

Nothing wrong at all. I’m complimenting his style (or that of the troops giving him clothes.

Well, what do you expect from a picture taken during his trial? Hell, gang-bangers who normally dress in circus-tent pants and backwards baseball caps show up at trial (if their lawyers can talk a speck of sense into them) dressed like they’re interviewing for admission to Harvard Business School.
