Saddam's trial

Is a five-week adjournment of the trial a way to break down an arrogant defendant?

I think it’s to give the defense more time to prepare, not break anybody down.

I still think they ought to let the guy go. In the middle of the Civic Auditorium. On ball-peen hammer night.

I’m still betting on a return to power. I always put my money on the dark horse.

What kind of odds is Jimmy the Greek giving?

Poor guy. He had his sons killed, his house blown to bits, his country terrorized; now he’s living under who knows what conditions in a country of people who are being told to hate him. I’m surprised he’s not dead now by our hands or his own, talk about a miserable way to go.

Although I must admit, as cruel as it is, I’d like to see what the results turn out to be.

Well…people aren’t being told to hate him, where did you get that? He’s on trial. Vigilantism is not good. Though I admit many times I have found myself feeling sorry for people like that; they ARE still human, you know. Though I’ve never felt sorry for Charles Manson, tough luck, bub.

Didn’t one of his lawyers die? prosecutors and such need time, sometimes lots. Trials can go on quite a while. This will be for the benefit of FoxNews-they won’t run out of news ever!

Most Americans think that he’s at fault for Sep 11th. Maybe this would be considered hijacking a thread, but he had nothing to do with it; nor did he have any weapons of mass destruction. So in a sense, the people are being told to hate him by the ones who lie to us about why they’ve destroyed his country. This is another highly controversial subject though, so I’m not trying to divert the attention of the thread away from the original topic. Simply explaining my choice of words…

I’m sure the jury will take the evidence into consideration.

People here hated him anyway, though. One reason the war went like it did is that nobody needed to be convinced that Saddam was a bad guy who hated America. I don’t know what, if anything, the Iraqi people think about Sept. 11, but they don’t need to be told they hate him. Hell, some don’t hate him.
