As the title says, when you’re building your burger and you’re putting in whatever salad makes you happy, does the salad items go on the bottom with the meat and hot items on top or does the meat and other items go first and then the salad?
I’m a meat on bottom person. My personal burger build goes like this:
Bottom bun
Sauce
Meat patty
cooked onion
cheese slice
bacon
fried egg
tomato
beetroot
lettuce
mayo
top bun.
You left out my option: it doesn’t really matter to me at all. My “cheese” goes on top though, since it will otherwise overpower the burger if it hits my tongue first. Same if I include (a tiny bit of) ketchup.
I favor salad on the top and cheese on the bottom. Your upper teeth get the crunch, while the cheesy goodness hits your tongue before the other ingredients.
IT doesn’t matter to me, but I voted on the bottom. (The only burger I usually get with the salad on it is an In N Out burger, and they put theirs on the bottom, so that’s what I thought of when thinking salad on a burger.)
I put lettuce on top. But…I’m usually flipping my burger periodically while I eat it, so that the largest amount of bun is on the bottom at any given time.
It just makes sense as a functional matter. You can construct the rest of the burger before/during cooking of the meat patty, so then when cooking is complete you simply pop the patty and fried onions on top of the otherwise complete burger and you’re done.
