A buddy of mine is a reporter for the NY Times. He covers Hollywood occasionally. He was at a Golden Globes party for the NYT a couple of years ago and shared this story about Hollywood networking:
My friend was talking with Harvey Weinstein - former head of Miramax - Harvey is very media savvy, recognized my friend and was pumping him to hype a movie. Salma Hayek walked up to Harvey - petite bit of perfection that she is - and was introduced to my (not even remotely good-looking by H’wood standards) friend. She was clearly there to network with Harvey (also not good looking by any stretch) and saw that Harvey was treating my friend like he “was somebody.” So, to get to Harvey, Salma turns it on to my friend, telling a brief anecdote that culminates with her taking his hand and clutching it to her breast for a good minute or so as part of telling the story.
My friend, while thoroughly captivated (!!), fully recognized that he was being worked by one of the best, so it is not like he could take it “personally,” if you will. But still…
Oh, and according to my friend “they’re real and they are specTACular”
Apparently, in true Hollywood networking fashion, when Salma is working it, she wears very revealing - all cleavage all the time - type stuff (like she doesn’t normally?!) and basically “waves them in front of you” fully expecting people she is talking with to spend their time looking at her boobs.
I seem to recall that Woody Allen, early in his career, said he wanted to be reincarnated as Warren Beatty’s fingertips. But I think your friend could give ol’ Warren a run for his money…
I seem to remember a picture of some guy getting a feel with Salma Hayek posted on The Stile Project two or three years ago. If that’s the same picture, I’m impressed. If that’s a different guy, I’m not as impressed, although it’s noteworthy – and I’m wondering when it’s going to be my turn to cup the Hayek twins.
If you can find a link to the site - I am at work and have to be careful about searches - I can confirm if it was my friend, but I am inclined to doubt it…
