Salted In the Shell Peanuts

I’m posting this in Cafe because it’s regarding food, but it could also be in IMHO and probably more suited for the MPSIMS because it is pretty mundane!

How do eat salted in the shell peanuts? Are you like me and first suck off all the salt from the shell and then crack it open and eat the peanuts? Or do you just crack the shell open and eat the peanuts?

I ask because I had some for lunch yesterday - yes, that was my lunch, peanuts followed by cantaloupe (or is it muskmelon!?) and watermelon. As I was sucking the salt off the shell I started thinking, maybe this is a weird thing I’m doing!

Relax; yer doin’ it right.

Thanks! I’ll continue on. :peanuts: :peanuts:

I’ve done it both ways. If I’ve bought a sealed bag I’ll suck off the salt. If it’s a communal bowl that was on the table I’d probably not.

Have you ever tried boiled peanuts?

boiled peanuts are da bomb yo

I eat 'em shells and all. Lots of salt, lots of fiber.

Been doing that since my dad would take me to Milwaukee Braves games and the vendors would come around with hot dogs slathered in brown mustard, real-sugar Cokes, and salted in the shell peanuts.

Good times…

That would be a lot of fiber! I’ve never eaten the shell. In the very few times I’ve eaten salted in the shell sunflower seeds, I eat the shell. I don’t how anyone would bother cracking the shell and eating that minute seed. But they do, based on the shells I see laying around.

Hey, I’m just a regular guy…

But now that I read your post, and realized that I don’t shell peanuts, sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds (and avoid pistachios)… I guess I’m just lazy!

I love boiled peanuts. They are so addicting.

Now I want some and they are hard to find around here.

TIL that there is a seed inside a pumpkin seed. And my mom would roast us pumpkin seeds fresh from the garden all the time when we were growing up. :hushed:
