The Hunter Biden Laptop story was real.
There are now confirmation of the E-mails on it from multiple sources, including the Swedish government. Among the E-mails confirmed was the one discussing a potential payout from China, with 10% going to ‘the big guy’.
On the other hand, the Alfa Bank Trump server story, which most of the most virulent attackers of the right here bought hook, line and sinker, was total horseshit. As was the Steele Dossier. And like a lot of people on the right said at the time, it was all dirty tricks paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Now that Joe Biden has turned out to be a spectacular failure and liability to Democrats and the hated Donald Trump is out of the picture, I expect more revelations about what happened in 2016 and 2020 will be appearing.

Something that may or may not have relevance or importance to anything but conveniently carries a prominent democratic politcians name that will have scant real reporting and an avalanche of “analysis” and “opinion” pieces that can be quoted on facebook, twitter, reddit, and places like the dope to create volume and space in the public discourse.

So far, the “story” seems to be basically that Hunter Biden officially stated that a laptop credibly ascribed to his possession could be his, instead of definitively asserting that it was his. Gee.
The rest of the complaints seem to consist mostly of butthurt about whether mainstream media were reporting this story avidly enough. (And some objections about censorship on social media, which is not the same thing as news media.)

I’m trying to cut Sam some slack for his inflated conservative cheerleading these days because it could be in part a cognitive-dissonance thing connected to conservative mismanagement of the COVID crisis in Alberta.
The whole situation with vaccines and public-health protocols is a massive indictment of conservative and libertarian anti-government and anti-facts approaches everywhere. Sam is not as anti-facts and anti-government as some of his ilk, but when he sees conservative policies leading to predictable and avoidable catastrophes, he not unnaturally reaches for the anti-liberal mental security blankies of “Hunter Biden’s laptop” and “liberal media conspiracy” and “Biden is a failure” and so on to distract himself from the unpleasant implications.
