I think it’s more that he so desperately needs to believe the shit he posts, that he can’t dig too deep. Constantly finding out he’s wrong about almost everything shatters his worldview. And he has an almost obsessive desire to prove “both sides…” in order to absolve his side when he does see how bad his side is nowadays.
Oh. My. God. This is almost every one of your political posts.
@Sam_Stone I started another thread outside of this one asking if you recognized in any way that you make a lot of errors and whether you ever considered getting new sources of information. You asked me to catalogue them, and that’s simply not going to happen as I already have a full-time job.
But here you have a lot of people telling you that you make a lot of errors. Is there no part of you that thinks with so many people telling you the same thing that maybe, just maybe, there’s some truth to this?
Like when one person tells me something I go. Meh.
Two people? I go huh.
Three or more people? I think, hmmm, this bears some investigation.
Now maybe they’re wrong, and that’s fine but internal reflection is really important.
Like seriously dude, you make a LOT of errors. And that majority of them appear to me to be parroting right-wing media sources that are well known for telling lies and spreading misinformation. Hence, if you have any part of you that is interested in having a fact-based belief system, and a speck of introspection, I’d urge you to stop and reflect on this.
@Sam_Stone, not that you should give a shit about what I say, but I also find that you post these long, ranty posts in GD or P&E that make all kinds of accusations. It’s a kitchen sink post of grievances. Some of it is probably true, but some of it is definitely wrong. You’ve done this when responding to me in the past.
My reaction, first, is exhaustion – why do I have to read a long rant in P&E or GD? Then, when I read through it and find things that are wrong, I don’t bother trying to verify or respond to the stuff I’m not sure about. I’m not going to research all of your claims in a long post – the false claims make it not worthwhile.
So, my useless suggestion is, if you have an example or a claim to make, make that claim and back it up with a cite. That would be more effective than making ten claims, some of which get nitpicked immediately.
It’s always the case that others will nitpick the easiest things to nitpick – it happens all the time here. That can be prevented by focusing on one or two claims, well-cited and on point, rather than a kitchen sink rant of some truths and some errors of fact.
