Sam Stone believes Trump's tweets

With his latest posting in the Musk threads I’m starting to doubt if he’s actually a programmer with some of his absurdly dumb takes on it. Although similar to every other topic on here, I think it’s more likely either some kind of trolling or just that he thinks “the libs” are so stupid he doesn’t need to bother thinking about why he’s reflexively disagreeing with them.

“Starting” to doubt? There was never really any doubts about it. He’s always hired people for that. He was always the “big idea” and management guy up top. There’s scant evidence he has any real STEM bona fides to speak of, other than ownership of companies in the space.

Did people really think he actually got his hands dirty with any of the leg work at any of his companies?

That’s awfully cute. Sad and sort of pathetic, but cute.

His actual reputation as a coder is…not good. Which is not to say that this necessarily makes him a bad leader of a code-enabled business platform; there are plenty of CEOs of technology companies that couldn’t differentiate between C and BASIC. I doubt Bill Gates could write a trivial device driver and I know Steve Jobs coudn’t find his way around a windowing framework, but both understood what end users wanted and needed in their products. What makes Musk incompetent is his well-evidenced lack of basic comprehension in how the Twitter platform even worked, which to anyone knowledgeable in automotive or propulsion engineering is of no surprise at all because he demonstrated almost no actual knowledge in those areas, either, but was at least self-aware enough to hire and parrot those who did. With Twitter, he just assumed because he could use the platform to influence speculators and insult people that he understood everything about how it worked.

Oh I mean Sam. Although I agree that it doesn’t really matter if Elon is a good coder or not.

Oh, @Sam_Stone definitely knows a fair amount about coding, albeit from the perspective of “the only right way to do it is the way I do it”. Where it comes to Elon Musk, however, Sam definitely has on the polarizing filter that eliminates all possible criticism. If you asked him to describe Musk, he would respond that “Elon Musk is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.”

Musk has to be because of his worldview that the rich are rich because they deserve it, and if you’re poor it is because you did work hard enough. Can you imagine if the richest person in the world was actually undeserving, and got there mainly through luck? It shatters everything his type believe in, and therefore cannot be true.

I think it’s not a coincidence that “fortune” means both luck and wealth.

Those cinnamon toothpicks used to make my lips smooth…

Lips and polyps are not all that closely related.

The way Sam kisses up to the Trumps and the Musks of the world, I’d say they were often in close proximity, at least in his case.

Well played, sir, well played.

Dude, it’s right there in the name. What’s next, you’re gonna tell us that liposuction doesn’t involve lips either?

Au contraire!

Paul Lips is from the Lips family, clearly. They are certainly related!

Yeah, that’s why you copied the original text without correcting it and then made the exact same error in your own original post. Right.

I mean he’s actually bragging about knowing Pascal. It’s hilarious.

Him knowing Pascal is a Wager I’d take.
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There’s no killer app I haven’t run (Run)
At Pascal, well, I’m number one (One)
Do vector calculus just for fun
I ain’t got a gat but I got a soldering gun (What?)
“Happy Days” is my favorite theme song
I could sure kick your butt in a game of ping pong
I’ll ace any trivia quiz you bring on
I’m fluent in JavaScript as well as Klingon

-Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy”

I’m very glad that each line of text is a link to an explanation of the lyrics

It’s nice to see how willing Sam is to craft a narrative based on tiny scraps of fact and conjecture that gives the benefit of the doubt in the kindest way. It shows how open-minded and unbiased he is. Just because someone else might go low and assume a public figure like Musk is a monster because of some blind political partisanship doesn’t mean Sam would ever stoop to such an emotion-driven, barely-factual behavior. Just look at his take on Hunter Biden.

I’d a good thing that @Sam_Stone is around to school everyone on what a code review is. I don’t know what the SDMb would do without him.
