Same Song Titles (different bands)

In this thread I wrote about The Clash’s song Death or Glory and then realized that Six Feet Under had a song by the same name. How many song titles can you name that have been used by more than one band? NOTE: Covers don’t count so Beast of Burden by The Rolling Stones and Bette Middler is not what we are after.

I remember Casey Kasem saying once that there had been something like six distinct songs to make the top 40 in ‘the rock era’ with the title “Lady”.

“Angel” Aretha Franklin/Jimi Hendrix/Aerosmith
“Crazy” Patsy Cline/Aerosmith
“I Need You” The Beatles/The Kinks

…to name a few

I’m pretty sure Creed sings a song called “One.”

“We’re Not Going to Take It” The Who/Twisted Sister

According to my handy Joel Whitburn’s Top Pop Artists & Singles 1955-1978, and his Top 40 Hits 1955-Present

Run, Run, Run, was the title of different songs sung by
[ul]

  • Ronny Douglas (#75 in 1961)
  • Gestures (#44 in 1964)
  • The Supremes (#93 in 1964)
  • Third Rail (#53 in 1967)
  • Jo Jo Gunne (#27 in 1972
    [/ul]

Runaway Del Shannon’s 1961 #1 classic
and a #12 hit for Jefferson Starship in 1978

**Nobody But You ** #21 for Dee Clark in 1961
and #86 for Loggins & Messina in 1972

And as far as the Lady title goes, I could find only five of them, those being
[ul]

  • Jack Jones (#39 in 1967)
  • Styx (#6 in 1975)
  • Little River Band (#10 in 1979)
  • Whispers (#28 in 1980)
  • Kenny Rogers (#1 in 1980)
