Sanctimony v. Corruption

Over lunch my coworkers and I were inevitably talking about politics. Since I work for a political activist organization, this is not unusual. One lives in New Jersey, the other lives in Connecticut.

We were complaining about Joe Lieberman, as we are also wont to do. So my coworker from NJ offers to take Lieberman in exchange for that paragon of virtue, Robert “The Torch” Torricelli. To her surprise, my coworker from CT readily agrees.

So I leave this to the Dopers to decide. Which is preferable, a moderately corrupt politician or a sanctimonious one?

For myself, I prefer corruption to sanctimony hands down. But I’ll weigh in with my own arguments later.

Maeglin, if you’re from New York, you have a senator who’s blessed with both qualities.

december, you are making it very hard for me to keep giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are in fact a decent, rational individual.
