Tens of thousands! Trump saw it on the TeeVee.
Yes. Loudly protesting OUTSIDE THE BUILDING does in fact count as “a loud voice of dissent.”
Not sure what you think that link has to do with disputing the point made. Mind you I do not dispute that there were some that intended to go in and be obnoxious if he came. That would have been across the line in my mind if it had occurred. And like hecklers at Obama events have been ushered out they would rightly have been as well. Without roughing anyone up or encouraging them to be roughed up. Yes Obama has apparently been the most heckled president. Generally the hecklers are escorted out. But Obama was even heckled during a speech to Congress by a congressman! Sometimes though he does respond and even instructs security to allow the heckler to remain and engages. Please note the difference between how Obama reacts and how Trump does.
Being heckled, being disrupted … it’s going to happen, regrettably. Encouraging violence in reaction to it. Not okay.
The arena holds 9500, was full (plus the floor?), and a big portion of the people there were protesters.
Obama has become a classy dude in his later years. Notice, though, that like Bernie, the tolerance Obama shows is to protesters that are to his left. The needed level of force is used to remove this anti-abortion protester.
Who encouraged violence as a reaction to heckling?
There are a lot more people trying to disrupt his rallies due to the extreme reactions to his message, and all of the incitement against him online and in the media.
But I don’t see much to support the narrative that the protesters are being removed with more force than is usual, in comparison to their level of resistance to the ejection.
Who or what is “antifa”?
Nah, none of that is violent enough. Some groups are into shouting and running up on stage to take the meetings over. Their is no way “nice” protesters could control the loudmouths and the more aggressive ones.
Anti-facist.
Left wing authoritarianism is for the greater good.
Donald Trump did, several times. If you didn’t know that, you just haven’t been watching the news.
Or reading this thread; it’s been cited several times.
False flag operations are never acceptable. Anyone who would try to fabricate evidence that their political opponents are Nazis like this needs to take a long walk off a short pier.
Yes, it’s true that Trump only advocates violence against those whom he claims are already being violent. The problem is, the people whom he claims are already violent, aren’t. The actual people he is actually advocating violence against are nonviolent.
Amanda Marcotte writes: Trump protesters are heroes: They’re reminding voters how much of a monster Trump is. A very, very compelling read.
What a load of totalitarian tripe. “Rachel Maddow said so” is not a legitimate cite, despite what the author of that piece, and many on this message board, seem to think.
Marcotte claims “the fact that Trump is openly encouraging his followers to treat disagreement as a disrespect that justifies a violent putdown.”, but the piece she links to provides no evidence of any such thing. This is some serious double-speak, considering it is Bernie’s supporters using force in an attempt to shut down a political rally.
It’s not at all suprising though, there are always some left wing nut jobs like this around to apologize for those who try to shut down free expression that they don’t approve of. That professor in Missouri, the one who called for “musle” to help her eject a student journalist reporting on her protest, even had a bunch of her colleagues defending her actions.
They have not.
That professor in Missouri who got fired, you mean? Yup.
Sorry did I come in too late to ask a question without reading the whole thread?
Some media are referring to Chicago Trump protesters as acting “unconstitutionally.” (Krauthammer, O’reilly)
In what way? There’s too many stories and half truths unchecked to get a clear story.
It’s simple; Krauthammer and O’Reilly are full of shit. Whenever either one claims someone is doing something unconstitutional just translate it as “someone is a Democrat.”
Private parties can act illegally, but they cannot act unconstitutionally, only government can do that.
They’re implying that Sanders wants to stop Republicans from exercising their First Amendment free speech rights.
Don’t see why not, she’s got more journalistic credibility than the whole Fox News team put together, and you know it.
Trump has said that these protesters are swinging at the people around them. The protesters are there to attack free speech and to attack the people who came to hear free speech.
