Sandra Bland video

The dash cam clearly shows the police officer making a U turn to follow Bland’s car. She was, at the time, driving on a two lane road, therefore there had been no illegal lane change. Why did he turn around to follow her in the first place? The video shows the posted speed limit as 20 MPH, and the cop is clearly going faster than that. Bland then goes through an intersection which widens the street from two lanes to four lanes, and the cop is coming up behind her at a high rate of speed. She pulls over to let him by her. That’s when he turns on his lights and pulls her over.

Why did he make the U turn and come up behind her in the first place.

Secondly, a question about the jail video in which her body was discovered. Why was the cop looking at the floor if she was supposedly hanging from a partition?

Ah well, if it’s a tweet repeated by the family attorney, it MUST be true.

BTW - the family ordered an independent autopsy that was supposed to be concluded by now. Do you think the autopsy has shown she was murdered and the family is hiding that fact?

Ok…I’ve watched it. Seems exactly what was in the transcripts. She had an attitude with him right off, he got annoyed back and things escalated from there. He asked her to get out, she refused, he opened her door and she said she wasn’t going to talk to him and he had no right and then BOOM! Everything exploded the the blood began to spill.

Did he have the right to reach into the car to remove her after she refused to obey his order to leave? No idea. Should he have ramped things up like he did? Probably not. But she wasn’t blameless in this either. It was fucking unnecessary on both sides. She should have taken the freaking ticket, kept her mouth shut and then driven off. If she had an issue with the ticket then that’s what traffic court is for. Now she is dead, stupidly and this dude is probably going to be basted in the media and possibly have is career ended. And all because people are SUCH fucking assholes to each other.

Who cares what you enjoy? You make yourself look willfully ignorant if you refuse to look at the complete audio-visual record of the encounter you feel qualified to express judgement about.

Yes, the video shows stuff that a transcript does not. Like sound and action. These attributes combined create a more complete presentation of the event in question than just a string of printed words on a screen. Ever notice that watching a movie is far richer experience than reading a screenplay?

Why wouldn’t she express an “attitude”? He asked her why she was irritated and she explained…

Never mind. I just can’t today.

The family autopsy has not been completed so there is nothing to release and I must inform you that the State of Texas gas not released the first autopsy which was done before they released the body to her family.

Here’s an example of a jail suicide that ends up being a homicide after the second autopsy uncovers the truth.

Don’t then. But she had a total attitude about being given a ticket. She was hostile from the get go. He started out polite, but then lost it. He was a dick. She was a total bitch from the first second of the confrontation. Then shit happened.

If Bland had supposedly kicked at the officer, why doesn’t he ever say so on the video? You think he’d at least say something like, “I’ll light you up if you keep assaulting me!”

He’s not entitled to be an asshole, he has a gun and a badge. If he wants that privilege, he can remove himself and go be a civilian.

Did the [Bland family attorney lie](attorney Cannon Lambert)? He claimed they ordered the autopsy 3 days ago, it should have been concluded in 48 to 72 hours, and they now have flown the body to Chicago - so it must have been concluded unless it is some weird kind of autopsy that is conducted in multiple states?

Problem is, the officer is supposed to be the trained professional with skills as to how to deescalate situations and how to deal with all sorts of people in all sorts of moods. The burden is on the officer to rise above and be professional, while carrying out his duties. It’s not an equal relationship with equal responsibilities.

If you are asking me I didn’t see where she tried to kick him in the car, but then it was a dash cam view so it was hard to tell what the hell was going on when he tried to forcefully remove her from the car. What a total cluster fuck that whole thing was.

He’s not entitled to be a human? Good luck with that. As for removing himself and becoming a civilian, I’d wait to see how this all falls out…he might just have done that to himself in this thing. I won’t be surprised if he gets admin leave at the least and maybe goes before a board or is even suspended or fired from this mess.

Cmon you watchin a different movie?

He invited her to weigh in on stopping her for changing lanes in getting out of his way. She was civil but blunt, and cooperative. She is the taxpayer and he is the cop whose scene it is. She wasn’t required to be professional.
Nothing really happened until the cigarette.

Why has the state of Texas not released the autopsy they did before they released her body to her family? Answer that?

Department policy appears to be to de-escalate during traffic stops … again, does this officer go into Bubba’s rig like that?

No idea what Texas’ procedures are on autopsy results release. Now you answer my question. The “independent autopsy” has obviously concluded. Why do you think the family is not releasing the results?

There wasn’t anything assholish about Bland prior to the cop yanking her out of her car. He asked her what was wrong and she told him in a calm, articulate way why exactly she was pissed off. If he didn’t want the truth, he shouldn’t have asked her that question. And he was an asshole for goading her with “Are you finished?”

He asked her to put out a cigarette, even though he was five seconds away from having nothing more to do with her. That makes it an assholish request. But she was not assholish for saying no. Assertive, yes. Brave, yes. But not assholish.

Yes, after she was pulled out of the car she lost her cool. From her perspective (and anyone with half a brain cell), she’s being arrested for no good reason. That’s not assholish. That’s called being a human being. I don’t think human beings should have to suppress all emotion when interacting with police officers. If police officers are allowed to be fearful and angry, so should citizens.

He was an asshole for slapping her in cuffs, manhandling her repeatedly, and throwing her in jail over some trumped-up bullshit.

This is NOT a case of both sides being wrong. Only one side was wrong here. It wasn’t Sandra Bland.

I think this girl handled herself quite admirably … she came across as civil, educated, calm … a symbol of maturity to be held up and honored as an example of how to express one’s self without seeming a total bitch.

… but now she’s dead.

I’m sure you’re making a point
