It has been 10 years since the Sandy Hook shooting, and I had put this this whole story to bed a long time ago.
But then came the Alex Jones trial going on now in Connecticutt.
Iam not much into these type of conspiracy theories, but one of the parents of the deceased children testified today, and I could not believe my ears.
Ian Hockley, the father of Dylan who died in the shooting testified that he had Dylan Cremated.
As a matter of fact, the plaintiff’s attorney asked him about makeing arrangements for his burial.
Everybody knows that every major network reported that ALL 20 of the children were buried, which means they were placed into caskets.
Further, it was widely reported that 19 of the funerals were closed caskets, and one, belonging to Noah Pozner, was an open one.
Can someone please explain to me that if the remains of a loved one (ashes) who has been cremated are sitting in an ern at your home, why would you need a casket? Why would you be at a cemetary?
The main reason I disagreed with people who thought it was a hoax, was because you can’t fake 26 funerals, but since testimony today in open court has placed some doubt on the integrity of these funerals, I don’t know what to think.

My SO had already made her funeral arrangements before we got together; whenever her time comes, she will be cremated and her remains interred at a nearby cemetery.
But when you inter the ashes of a cremated loved one, you don’t pour the ashes into a casket that is designed for a person to lay in, right?

Is this somehow new to you? A casket is not a required element in burial, only enclosure beneath the surface of the earth.

If it’s just the term “closed casket funeral”, that doesn’t mean that there’s necessarily a literal closed casket there, and even if there is, there needn’t be anything in it: It just means it’s not an open-casket funeral. An open-casket funeral (where the mourners can view the body) pretty much requires a casket, but a closed-casket funeral doesn’t.
The main reason you should disagree is that the idea of such an event being staged is, and I hate using this word, but it is apt…

It’s pretty typical for people who believe conspiracy theories to glom onto a small detail which they find incongruous, and assume that because they don’t understand it, this invalidates everything.
This is another example of something… STUPID.
Because you don’t understand some detail about coffins, urns or how people choose to conduct funerals, you should not draw the very STUPID conclusion that Sandy Hook was staged.
