Sandy Hook a hoax?

Then you really, really need to read Illuminatus!.

And Foucault’s Pendulum.

And for a shorter book, there’s “The Crying of Lot 49”

It’s a poor shadow of Illuminatus! written for the general public. The best part of Illuminatus! was not the narration, but the exposition/appendices. Follow Shea and Wilson’s trail and you go down the rabbit hole, perhaps permanently. I still like to visit down there.

I liked it. Still don’t know if I understand it.

Then you’re ahead of the game.

My father reminesced a few years ago about how I’d gone through this really stoopid phase in my early twenties where I believed all this spooky, mysterious conspiracy theory crap. He remembered me telling him wide eyed that the local Masonic Hall had 23 steps leading up to its front door and that the number 23 was everywhere and I thought this was evidence of the the Illuminati.

I then had to explain how my friends and I had been going through an Illuminatus! craze at the time and that we understood full well that the very point of the book was that once you start looking for signs of a conspiracy everywhere, you can’t help seeing them, even though (if you’re smart) you know they actually mean nothing.

I’m not sure he believed me.

Fnord.

It’s an honor to post directly after the esteemed Princhester.

Here is a good video.

Dr. James Fetzer, PhD has researched this a lot.

This is a four month old thread. The main issue was settled on page one and these links are unlikely to add anything of value since they’re conspiracy nonsense. Posting links like these with no comment rather than engaging the actual discussion is a typical conspiracist tactic and making people wade through tons of someone elses words is very bad form.

And to add to the previous post, if someone takes the trouble of pointing out some of the errors, the typical conspiracist will do a combination of ignoring the reply/denying there are errors/claiming everything else is correct and that the discussion has been decided in his/her favour as long as no one reads/watches everything and refutes everything published back to Moses.

Your hero Fetzer does not have a doctoral degree in anything at all remotely relevant to Sandy Hook. His doctorate is in philosophy.

Yes, but PhDs and MD degrees impress the hell out of morons, no matter how unrelated the degree is to their claims and despite how nutty they are.

Fetzer is not only a Sandy Hook Hoax promoter, he’s also a 9/11 Truther, Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorist, moon landing hoax advocate etc. He’s got his very own entry in the Encyclopedia of American Loons.

"Diagnosis: Hysterically insane. Gibbering idiot who, sadly, views himself as a serious, rational scientist in shining armor, backed by valiant, smart, no-nonsense scholars, out to do good for the world. In the real world, of course, as opposed to his own fantasy kingdom, he is a deranged, mean, wailing madman surrounded by cardboard cannons and ushering incoherent commands to his army of tin soldiers and plush animals. "

I had not encountered the Encyclopedia of American Loons before. There are a disturbing, but sadly unsurprising, number of entries. I see Mayam Bialik recently got her own entry, alas.

I’ve never heard of this before and I already want a five-volume, gold-leaf-edged edition to display on my bookshelf.

Well, fucking thanks! There goes any chance of my being productive today.

Aw, fuck. Now I have to tell my wife and Big Bang Theory is ruined.

Yes, I knew she was anti-vax and a big fan of the woo, which is a bit hard for me to reconcile with her science background. I blame brain slugs.

Rationalwiki also has an entry:

That holocaust denial bit also shows that he is a very sick puppy.
