Sandy Hook a hoax?

I didn’t think it should be a credible source to you guys I was trying to explain that she’s never steered me wrong before. She seems to be super into this kind of stuff and always looking up info and reading up on things.

I can understand that. But don’t confuse trust with blind trust. It’s perfectly reasonable to trust people who have been trustworthy up to that point. As an adult yourself though, you can trust yourself and your good sense. You don’t have to believe everything someone says in order to love and trust them, in general.

I don’t think I will ever make that mistake again. Live and learn.

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Really? I’d say “Live and learn”, but it’s really not appropriate, is it?

JLynn, you keep saying this but then you continue to hijack the thread with further remarks. I’m instructing you to cease posting in this thread. If you wish to complain about your treatment here you can start a thread in the BBQ Pit.

Likewise, I’m instructing everyone to stop poking at JLynn. She has admitted she made a mistake, so drop it.

Princhester, insulting remarks like this are not appropriate for GQ. No warning issued, but don’t do this again.

Thanks, y’all, that’s very kind.

I’m still just sort of stunned that someone could possibly think that the parents of TWENTY children, and the families of SIX adults, would be denied access to the bodies of their loved ones. Wouldn’t those families want answers as to the whereabouts and status of their beloveds? How in the name of anything could a rational person possibly believe a statement that 26 families were not allowed to identify the bodies of their dead family members? Much less the multitudes of attendees at the funerals and viewings?

It boggles the mind.

ETA: This is not a poke at the poster who was lied to by her mother. This is merely a comment regarding the mindset of conspiracy theorists.

Still, let’s drop it.

No, I’m talking afterwards when the buildings had fallen and they were going thru the wreckage. many upscale shops were in the WTC and many times firemen and other rescuers were helping themselves to things like Rolex watches and jewelry.

Got any cites? Such as actual court cases?

That’s plausible. None of that jewelry is going to affect the safety of anyone, or the investigation, since all the victims were already dead and the case had been solved, and it’s all insured. I could imagine someone picking through the wreckage being tempted to pocket something. It’s a crime that seems victimless - the only party harmed is the insurance company who insured the inventory of those shops - and a piece of jewlery recovered is a tiny crime compared to the losses involved.

I know this is a sensitive subject, but I’m sure that sort of thing happened. Even if it was crushed or twisted, a gold ring would still be valuable. I’m sure plenty of diamonds and other gems survived OK.

I cant remember all the conspiracy theories surrounding Bush, or CT’s believed by Democrats today. I do know the Cheney/Haliburton connection was played up by Democrats. That the war was a moneymaking excuse for Cheney and Halibuton etc. A number were also quite willing to believe Bush was dubiously deferred from Vietnam. A number were also rather too quick to criticize the National Guard record of Bush. In fact Dan Rather was sacked/resigned over such a story. A story CBS ran with only weeks before the 2004 Presidential election.

While I don’t doubt the possibility - the possibility also exists that they were seen ‘pocketing’ but no one seen when they turned the stuff in later. (as part of a procedure to secure valuables - prevent looters, etc)

to call it a ‘coverup’ is beyond the pale - that suggests stronger motives then just people taking stuff and not getting caught.

That’s not even counting the truly tinfoil-hat stuff about how Bush was going to overthrow the government and install himself as dictator-for-life. I remember at least a few people on this message board seemed to believe that this was going to occur.

The Bible? Pshaw! That’s been edited and re-edited and re-re-edited so many times to suit the Powers That Be that you can’t trust a word of it!

Were there actually any jewellery stores in the WTC, though?

Conspiracies are generally kept secret. Cheney was pretty open about his desire to steer public (and private) funds to the oil industry.

There are some people who believe this about Obama, too.

As for rescuers pocketing jewelry, in many cases, this was all the family got back. :frowning:

Yes, sort of. There was at least one high-end watch store, a Sunglass Hut and a Borders bookstore. From an article in the New York Times, “The looters picked through a Tourneau boutique watch store, raided cases of designer sunglasses in another shop, tried to pry open at least one cash register and penetrated the service room behind a row of Chase automated teller machines, where steel safes appear to have dissuaded them from making off with stacks of cash.” One of the looters was a former corrections officer who pretended to be a cop.

Also, the Bank of Nova Scotia had a vault containing about $200 million in gold and silver in the WTC buildings.
