I was just about to say the same thing. It’s SO predictable. The only response is to just laugh at anyone trying to make that equivalence.
Sarah Huckabee was raised in the Govenors mansion* in Arkansas. By all accounts she was a spoiled brat. A thoroughly horrible child. She drove a Hummer to highschool. I cannot find any cites but it was thought of as truth around these parts.
- part of the time they lived in a doublewide trailer while the Mansion was being renovated.
The Iraq War cost tens of thousands of Iraqi children their lives, as everyone, including Bush’s press secretary, knew well in advance that it would. Unfortunately, it was a war justified with naked, brazen, balls out lies. Bush’s press secretary (Fleischer, was it?) spread and defended lies which were orders of magnitude more harmful than the lies Sanders is selling today.
Of course most of us did not complain about that…
Wait, of course we did. Don’t teach grandma to suck eggs…
Your point, that Republicans have been malicious liars throughout the 21st century so far, is not in dispute.
The claim that Trump’s malicious lies, excreted through the pie-hole of thread’s target, are “orders of magnitude [less] harmful” isn’t just wrong — it’s breathtakingly wrong.
The most recent stupidity alone has subjected thousands of children to severe distress, possibly leaving permanent emotional scars. The Cheneyists allowed children to be killed because they thought they were serving some noble geopolitical objective, or at least diverting hundreds of millions of dollars to their friends. The Trump-Pence agenda, OTOH, was motivated by neither vision nor greed — it was like beating up random strangers and hoping that their Lie Machine (led by SHS) could shift the blame to Nancy Pelosi.
The lies about Russia could strengthen that evil state, at the expense of the Free World. Trump’s self-delusions about North Korea’s Kim may have prolonged the life of that evil regime. Half a million American “Dreamers” have had their lives disrupted by this carnival barker. Rollbacks of rules at EPA are already scheduled to cause thousands of new cancers and that toll may rise. Cheating by the Census may prolong the Reign of Malice by decades. And so on.
The full toll of this hideous Administration and its lies cannot yet be estimated. But we know enough already to be sure that “orders of magnitude [less] harmful [than GWB]” is an exaggeration demonstrating severe confusion.
So, she wouldn’t? Or just hasn’t yet?
How does that in any way invalidate my point? Do you know what my point is?
They didn’t “allow” children to be killed. They bombed children. They also destroyed essential utilities like hospitals and water treatment plants, which caused an untold number of children to die of disease and injury. And this isn’t even touching on the children we maimed and orphaned.
All of this was justified, knowingly, by flat out lies. By whatever metric you care to use, those lies harmed more children than the lies being told today. Therefore, the idea that Sanders is the most monstrous press secretary in history is unfounded. She isn’t even the most monstrous press in the last 20 years.
It’s early days yet. If Trump and SHS were in the White House back then they’d deny any children were harmed, claim that nuclear weapons were found, and that Trump/Bush was on the phone in that kindergarten personally directing the response to 9/11.
Plus for non-Iraq things they lied only slightly more than normal. These assholes lie about everything.
You moderate Christians should do something about these extremist pastors. They are obviously all your fault.
Because I shit on him when he’s an ass, I want to also commend Bricker for not slipping in some sort of attack on liberals in his statement. And to say I agree with him, and wish more businesses would do this. I can’t remember if I submitted a post about my own history, where a racist town I used to live in would whine about being called racist all the time, and I kept saying “then stop doing business with racists who are public with their racism.” I mean, the guy set up signs, for fuck’s sake.
If you say something is unacceptable, then show it with your actions. I am glad this owner cared about his LGBT employees enough to ask her to leave.
Also, this isn’t about Trump, per se. I mean, he is ultimately involved, but Sanders herself has done a lot of horrible things in service of him. It’s not that she has to talk to her boss, it’s that she should stop doing bad things to support him. She is not a woman doing the bare minimum to keep her job. She, like her father, clearly agrees with him.
Which is why Trump won’t be grabbing her pussy.
But are we talking policies or press secretaries? Sanders lies non-stop, insulting the press (and trying to seed the idea that only dear leader can be trusted) all the way. Bullshit from the podium is a critical part of the trump phenomenon.
Meanwhile, the idea that press secretary briefings were the key factor that enabled war is laughable. And what knowing lie are you suggesting the press secretary was aware of?
Not trying to absolve them of any blame, but implying that blood is on the hands of the press secretary(-ies)? Come on.
So does that mean Sanders and her boss should just get a pass? I don’t think so. Maybe trump just hasn’t figured out how to start a war yet, though he sure seems to be trying.
No press secretary has ever been as insulting and rude, not even the ones who’ve previously worked for Donald Trump. None have been more dishonest, though Sean Spicer might be tied.
Trump has taken a break from his overwhelming schedule just long enough to weigh in:
Who paints brick?
As opposed to say… his own resaurant at Mar A Lago???
Rust, mold, parasites: Trump’s Mar-a-Lago cited for 78 health violations in the last three years
Unsafe seafood. Insufficiently refrigerated meats. Rusty shelving. Cooks without hairnets.
Reports show Florida health inspectors cited President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort with 15 violations in late January, days before the U.S. leader hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for a diplomatic visit.
Warm milk and missing concrete: Mar-a-Lago cited for food violations, safety issues
The two main kitchens at Mar-a-Lago were cited for 15 food violations during a state inspection on Nov. 8, while the property’s on-site bed and breakfast was cited for two “high-priority lodging violations," the Miami Herald reported.
I think that SHS’s actions are despicable.
I think that the restaurant owner had every right to kick her out.
However, I don’t think she should have been kicked out. I don’t think sinking to her level accomplishes anything. To paraphrase Michelle Obama, when they go low, you go high.
What would be much more effective would be to serve her like any other customer, then ask if she would take pictures with the staff to post in the restaurant, on social media etc. I would then post pictures of her with the staff, with comments about how nice it was to see her so supportive of a restaurant where many of the employees are LGBTQ+.
I like to imagine Donnie Two Scoops ditching all presidential responsibility for a few hours, driving to Virginia, walking up to the Red Hen, pulling out a little stepladder, and climbing up to inspect the canopies for dust. Then I laugh and laugh and laugh.
