Palin fell victim to the “problem” with promoting democracy in developing and unstable parts of the world. There is a significant risk that the free elections that come with democracy will be won by parties that are anti-American.

Well… that’d still be ignorant/misinformed of Biden. Having the UN go in was never a strategy that would keep Syria from influencing Lebanese politics, and Hezbollah is primarily an Iranian, not a Syrian creature. It’s also weird because Syria hasn’t had much real power in Lebanon for some time now, and the goverment was (until the Iranian led push a few months ago saw Hezbollah gain back-door control of the country’s telecom), a Western-friendly and nominally US aligned.
It does seem like a frightfully mangled gaffe, but the notions of restraining Syria’s involvement in Lebanon and hamstringing Hezbollah are both very good ones, so I suppose I can chalk it up to Biden being a human gaffe machine.
Still not sure how the heck he made a mistake like that, though.
Thanks for the Obama talking points.
Ooooh, snap! Wilde?
Just to keep the Palin bashing in one thread: Palin says Obama pals around with terrorists.
Apparently she’s not such an ordinary normal American like you and me she’s completely incapable of lying through her teeth or saying anything to get elected.
I like the way she mentions the Times like she reads it all the time (but darn it, just couldn’t think of the name when asked what she reads), but proves she hasn’t even read the story she’s referring to. Somebody just gave her a talking point and she went with it.
Does she really want to go there with this bullshit? She’s the one who’s married to a fucking card carrying secessionist, for fuck’s sake. She’s the one who “pals around” with guys who say they hate America.
I’m sure. The way she has run shod over the system in Alaska and the way Republicans in general think they can sidestep the law I’m not surprised she thought she could go on Couric’s segment, have Katie accept her pat bullshit answers, disregard her questions from that point on and then use the rest of the show as a private platform to spew her ignorance on any number of issues.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you would think that either.
She really is a little cunt, isn’t she.
They’re called “facts”. Your inability to deal with reality just makes you appear pathetic. But you’re probably used to that.
You need to learn the difference between fact and opinion.
She’s WHAT? Her husband is a secessionist?
And not connected to Dio’s point specifically, but is it just me, or is this woman starting to make Dan Quayle look like Henry Kissenger?
Two questions:
Is English truly her mother tongue?
Does she have some sort of neurological disorder?
That quote is one run-on, rambling sentence. No wonder she struggled through college–can she form a cogent thought?
She displayed no frustration while talking with Katie Couric; this is all spin to demonize the media (Katie Couric?) as The Filter. Sarah has The Truth and is prevented from sharing it with the Six Pack Family, somehow.
Alaska Independence Party, look it up.
Yep.
Everything is correct here except the pronoun.
You know, I actually don’t blame Sarah Palin for trying to change the subject when question of the 2006 Palestinian elections come up. What’s there to say? It was a massive foreign policy fuck-up on the part of the Bush administration:
[ol]
[li]Bush demands elections in the Palestinian territories[/li][li]Hamas defeats Fatah in the elections, surprising no one outside of the White House[/li][li]Condi Rice tells Mahmoud Abbas to dissolve the (democratically elected) government so they can have a do-over[/li][li]Palestinians get pissed[/li][li]The Bush administration supplies arms to Fatah[/li][li]Palestinians get more pissed[/li][li]Hamas beats Fatah, takes the U.S.-supplied arms, and starts shooting them at Israel.[/li][/ol]
There isn’t enough lipstick in the world to cover up that particular pig. And you’re expecting Sarah Palin to spin that off the top of her head? Not gonna happen.
Yes, Palin is a nasty little cunt. But so is McCain. Their campaign was based on scorched earth tactics from the start so might as well brace yourselves for it get worse, probably much worse, from here on out.
They’re trailing significantly now and losing ground. The have to make up a helluva lot of ground, and do it fast, if they want a chance at winning. Frankly their campaign has had too many clusterfuck moments along the line, i.e. the gamble on Palin, McCain’s ‘suspending his campaign’ to bail out the economy, etc. They don’t have much else left in their arsenal but more lies and attacks.
FWIW, Sarah Palin complaining about that pit bull Katie Couric just makes her look even more inept. The blithering twit still doesn’t understand that the media–other than Fox, of course–does not exist as a convenient delivery system for her verbal diarrhea. She can wink and be just really personable on her own time. Right now she’s running for Vice President. That means answering questions. Some of those questions might, oh gosh, be really, really hard. Complicated, and requiring actual facts instead of a big smile and firm convictions about…stuff. You know, about what she might do if McCain actually kicked while in office.
I predict increased brutality, even nastier lies, from both McCain and Palin in these last few weeks. Hasn’t been pretty so far and it’s gonna get worse, IMO.
One thing that’s abundantly clear these days is that a lot of people who get paid to know about money matters turned out to be ignorant of the economy.

I wonder if they’ll get desperate enough to go to the Larry Sinclair card. It wouldn’t surprise me. I bet we’ll at least see them try it via a 527 surrogate.
