Not to defend her, but one other thing I don’t get is that she doesn’t “do” anything- not an actress, singer, etc. She was born a multi-millionaire- people “do” things like act sing, etc. so that they may become what she was fortunate to have at birth. And there are dozens of fashion models who don’t “do” anything either, who don’t get the backlash.
Wait a minute! Are there posters in this thread who think that a 26 year old woman who has made two-- count 'em-- two sex tapes released to the world and exposes her genitalia over and over and over again to photographers should not be described as slutty? Do you guys know what the word ‘slut’ means?
And that is to say absolutely nothing about her disregard for the law and massive sense of entitlement. But go on, defend Paris as a misunderstood icon of feminism if that makes you happy. I mean, if you can’t be right, you might as well be happy.
But she IS an actress; she has a TV show and has been in some movies. She’s not Angelina Jolie, but by all accounts, she makes all her own money.
I guess it’s the shamelessness of Paris that gets me, too.
All she has ever cared about has been to be in the public eye for. . .just. one. more. second. no matter what.
And, when she became the master of the vagina shot, and even taught Britney how to pull it off, it doesn’t get any more shameless than that. . .acting as if your pussy slipped out of your pants so that you’d get a few more eyeballs online. Can you be a cheaper publicity whore?
When that’s your type of celebrity, you are open to receive ANY joke someone can make about you in any context.
And, I also think Sarah Silverman is funny as shit and has a damaged soul.
And, I’d hit that.
And, I’d hit the other one two times.
I’m probably rather take Paris up the butt at this point; it’s gotta be cleaner than that toxic land fill she calls a vagina.
Yes, but there are tons of hot famous chicks who hook up with many a handsome famous dude- Drew Barrymore has dated and/or married probably 20 famous guys, literally, and doesn’t have the slut reputation, and her special place is probably just as used.
Drew Barrymore and Angelina Jolie are actresses. That’s their job. They are in the public eye, and susceptible to the scrutiny that comes with that. But, Paris’ “job” is to be in the public eye. She’s not an entertainer first.
Everything she has done over the past 6 (or whatever) years has solely been to shamelessly get her face looked at by as many people as possible.
Paris got a stupid reality TV show because she was famous.
She is not famous because she was the star of a show, or an actress.
Her sex tape got her 15 more minutes.
Her CD got her 15 more minutes.
Her vagina got her 15 more minutes.
Her DUI got her 15 more minutes.
Silverman’s jokes get her 15 more minutes.
When your job is to whore publicity, and you willingly show off your twat to do that, suffering jokes about you going to prison is part of the job – they’re in the job description.
Finally, after six years on this board, I’ve found something you and I agree on.
It doesn’t seem like you’ve actually read the thread.
Who said Hilton’s not “slutty?” (Someone may argue against the use of that term in general, but if the term’s on the table, who in this thread can be construed as saying Hilton doesn’t count as an example of it?)
Who said Hilton is an icon of feminism?
If no one said either of these things, why did your post presume that they did?

Why are people still defending her as a “good person”? go to youtube, type in “paris hilton racist”, watch video, stop saying shes a good person.
I can’t help it, but every time I see Paris I think of this.
I thought Sarah Silverman’s slam on Tobey McGuire was harsher.
“What’s with everyone flashing their vaginas these days? I can see 5 vaginas out in the audience right now. Oh, wait, there’s Tobey McGuire, make that 6.”
One of my favorite jokes of all time was by Greg Giraldo- “What happened to Courtney Love? Her career dried up faster than Sarah Silverman’s pussy around guys who can’t help her in the business”
What are you talking about?
-FrL-
The youtube clip in the OP (I didn’t see the awards show) was funny, I admit, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
I have zero respect for Paris Hilton, whom I consider to be an under-talented, over-entitled, dim-witted slut. She certainly deserves this time in jail and I hope it teaches her a lesson.
But still – what Silverman did was kick somebody when they were down. And that’s just mean, even if it’s funny. IMO the meanness chokes the humor.
Exapno Mapcase:
Why is she the one being tarred as a slut? Because she is one.
Indygrrl
Why, she’s no worse than all 26 year olds. Because, um, they all make sex tapes, flash their goodies and defy the law.
Princhester
Yes, that’s it. Because sexual promiscuity is exactly the same as making TWO sex tapes and flashing your gash to the paparazzi.
And the feminist icon was in response to Princhester’s ‘you just don’t like her because she likes sex’ take on all the Paris-bashing.
Oh and Frylock, after that last “what are you talking about”, I think it may be you who isn’t reading the same thread as the rest of us.
Biggirl, you said people in this thread are claiming Hilton’s not a slut, but you produced one quote from someone saying she’s no more of a slut than a lot of other non-famous people, and another explaining that one piece of evidence–the first sex tape–is not good evidence that she’s a slut. Your quotes did not support your original claim.
And saying “You shouldn’t criticize her for being promiscuous just because she’s female” is a far cry from holding her up as a “feminist icon.”
Finally, you commented that I must not have been reading the thread, because someone said people here are defending Paris as a “good person,” and I asked them what they were talking about. Can you show me where someone on this thread has defended Paris as a “good person?”
-FrL-
Um, excuse me? One person says they don’t see why everybody is calling her a slut, the other person saying she’s just like everybody else and another calling Paris’ brand of sluttiness nothing more than a girl who likes sex doesn’t support that there are posters here who don’t think Paris is a slut.
I think I understand, unless I can find a poster in this thread that said “Hey Paris Hilton is not a slut!”, in exactly those words, then it doesn’t count, is that what you are trying to say?

So, you don’t like my use of hyperbole? Awww, I’m sorry.
This is the only one where it can be argued that the person is saying she’s not one. But strictly speaking, s/he didn’t say that–s/he just called one piece of evidence into question.
It wasn’t “just like everyone else” but rather “just like a lot of girls who don’t get picked on.” This is perfectly compatible with these other girls also being sluts–just sluts who don’t get picked on for being sluts.
How is this not saying she’s a slut? Sure, it attempts to take the bite out of the term. But what is a slut if not someone who engages in a lot of sex? I see no claim that Hilton’s not a slut here–rather, an argument that the term “slut” should not be used in general. In other words, the objection seems to be not to the claim “Hilton is a slut,” but rather, to the use of the term “slut” in the first place.
Another example: I think it is true that Hitler is a Kraut. I also think no one should ever use the term “Kraut.”

No one calls the eight-time married Elizabeth Taylor a slut- is this because she’s a great actress?
